What's for Breakfast?!

Recommended Posts

So I'm super curious what everyone is having for Breakfast and what phase they are in and how far out post-op we each are. I would love new ideas, recipes, and products to use. I would also love any comments as to what may be wrong or incorrect about my meals. As for me, here is my breakfast and the nutritional breakdown.

I will be six weeks post op on Monday July 27. I started my preop on May 26th and sleeved June 15. Down 31 pounds since start of pre-op

1 pouch of Oat Revolution Steel Cut oatmeal with flax

1 Tblsp of natural honey

1 Tblsp of finely chopped walnuts

1 Tblsp of finely diced strawberries

241 calories

6 gr Protein

40 gr carbs

8 gr fat

A few side notes. It will take me two settings to finish this meal. I also use this breakfast to get my carbs in for the day. The rest of my day will be focused on protein! My NUT says I am allowed only honey or agave nectar as a sweetener.

I stick with the Protein most mornings but on the weekends like to have

1 egg over easy

I slice of Spam, or 2 slices bacon

And 1 slice toast, today raisin toast

I also did lots of research before my surgery and got into cooking methods, foods, and nutritional values, 2 of my main methods to cook are grilling, and Stir fry, I learned how to Stir fry through videos on Google and YouTube, and surprisingly found that you can manipulate many Asian recipes to be carb friendly, it was even more successful and fun when my wife got me a Wok, I've cooked some amazing meals in less time than a regular meal, my best so far was my Cashew chicken, I omitted the corn starch and sugar and it was delicious, I also use several Web sites for my cheat day, they offer gastric friendly restaurant listings and choices available, the shockers were Panda Express, and pretty much any chicken wing place, good luck

Shockers as in good for you, or bad for you? Do you have one site in particular that you like to use?@@laguerr13

95 percent of the time I have just a Protein shake for Breakfast. Otherwise I will have a yogurt with Protein granola, cottage cheese or maybe high protein oatmeal.< /p>

I try to save my carbs for lunch and dinner.

I am 10 months post op and on regular food.

This morning I had one scrambled egg, with cheese and two slices if bacon. Most days it's an egg of some fashion, omelette, boiled etc. If I have a boiled egg I eat some Cheerios too, a 1/2 cup. I always have some type of meat, salami, ham, turkey sausage etc to boost the Protein count.

I start my day with a lot more Protein. That's when I do most of my exercise, so I like sipping on some serious Protein a little before and after my exercise.

Almost every morning for Breakfast during my weight loss phases and now during maintenance, I have:

16-ounce skinny latte (heated skim milk and coffee)

GNC Lean 25 Protein shake (Swiss chocolate flavored)

Macronutrients:

Calories = 259

Protein = 33 grams

Carbs = 19 grams

Fat = 6 grams

Fiber = 3 grams

Sodium = 517 mg.

Like @@Djmohr I also like to spread my carbs throughout the day.

Nothing. Eating breakfast seems to make me feel hungrier throughout the day. I generally drink a cup of coffee and wait until lunch to eat. I've always been this way though. I am also a night owl, so I usually wake up at 9 - 10 so the wait isn't too long. I do take in about 50 calories from my Vitamins, but thats pretty much it.

For me, breakfast is typically a Dannon Light & Fit Greek Yogurt and a Morningstar Farms sausage patty. I eat as few carbs as possible, usually from dairy and what ever is in my veggies. I recently discovered that fruit sets off extreme hunger for me, so I have stopped eating any. My NP recommends avoiding starched and grains. Says we can thrive without them. I seem to do much better when they are left out of my diet.

160 calories

22 gms Protein

12 gms carbs

3 gms fat

I can change this up as the yougurt comes in so many flavors!

I am seven an a half months out from my gastric bypass and have been fully released food wise.

I usually eat yogurt or cottage cheese. Sometimes I'll throw a few blueberries on the cottage cheese (like maybe 10 of them)

I make a Protein shake to cover up liquid Vitamins I don't like. I also throw some metamucil type stuff in it and a half of banana. But then for lunch I sometimes eat eggs. Someone brought me over some shredded beef from costco and i made a machaca with egg whites for a couple of days. I just have to get that Protein shake first thing or I won't fix it.

This morning I had a scrambled egg and 1/4 cup fresh strawberries. I am just starting to add in fruit and I'm being very cautious. This is my first time with strawberries (except the occasional Tblsp in oatmeal).

Lol, it is a sausage, in my culture it is made with various ingredients including pork, beef and spices, if you go to Walmart it is usually in the breakfast section, although it comes in a casing, you first remove it then brown in a pan with no oil and if you used one casing add 6-7 eggs and mix until done, you can also get some pre packaged flour tortillas and heat then one by one in another pan serve them as tacos, It is used in a lot of dishes bi one of my favs is when you brown the chorizo and add a softened cheese, the best are Mexican and come in a jar, it makes a great dip for nachos, the egg and chorizo is carb friendly , the tortillas are not ..........

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

      I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

        That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
