Time Between Liquids and Yogurt

Recommended Posts

So this is a rather random and specific question - do I have to wait half an hour after drinking Water before I can have yogurt? I've been getting up pretty early to walk every morning because it gets hot so quickly. I take my mountain of Vitamins with 16 ounces of water, wait half an hour and then go walk. I've realized though that I need to eat something with Protein and carbs before walking. However, if I do anything remotely resembling exercise less than an hour after eating, I get terrible cramps in my side. So, ideally, I would like to be able to eat some yogurt with my 16 ounces of water and vitamins. Is that ok? I'm very good about observing the waiting period between eating and drinking, but because yogurt is considered a "full" liquid, do the same rules apply?

Did you have the sleeve or bypass?

According to my NUT Sleevers don't have to follow the waiting for liquids rule like bypass patients since we still have a pyloric valve. You will get contrary advice from others on this forum but I trust my NUT.

If you have bypass, then follow your program instructions.

I'm bypass. I often drink right before I eat. I never drink *after* eating, though - I always wait at least 30 minutes.

I'd do what your surgeon says, though. I don't remember what mine said about drinking before eating, if anything. But I do know that every time I'm in there, they ask me how long I wait *after* eating.

@@catwoman7 they said to stop drinking half an hour before a meal and to wait 45 minutes after a meal. I'm not sure if if yogurt counts though since it's considered a full liquid, but my NUT is incredibly slow to respond to questions.

Most of the time I wait however every once in a while when I have to be somewhere early I will wait 10 to 15 minutes before eating my yogurt.

I never eat and drink at the same time.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
