Roll call all who had surgery JUNE 2015

Recommended Posts

I found john soule's grilled chicken breast strips that are super moist. You can get them at Walmart, the only time I throw up so far was with a boiled egg. It got stuck and hurt so bad. Pretty sure I ate it too fast. I had just boiled it too and it was still warm so that might have had something to do with it

My sleeve was done on June 5th. I lost 16# pre op and 23# post op. I'm currently in a stall, but I've noticed that my clothes are still getting looser.

I started preop liquid diet on May 17 (@ 271 lbs); sleeved on June 2 (@ 257 lbs), and I'm currently 229 lbs. So 42 lb loss so far (28 lbs since surgery date).

You have the same stats as me except I had surgery 6/30. I am in a stall and was losing hope that I would make my goal of 229 by labor day but you have given me hope! I am slightly shorter than you though 5' 6''. Can I ask how long your three week stall lasted if you have one?

@Bndtoslv: I may be in one now. I've been at about 229 since 7/25. Previously, I'd lost 3-4 lbs/week pretty consistently.

June 2nd here. Down 30 lbs since surgery day. Haven't tried lettuce type food yet..too scared. I love baked chicken thighs in marinara sauce. As long as I chew a ton and eat slow I seem to be o.k. Haven't gotten nauseous or thrown up at all.Im starting a gym on Sunday and do dumb bells and fitbit. I hate eating out, I feel like the odd person. So excited for dinner today..we are having a bbq, marinated chicken yumminess!

I just had my 8 week check up today and I return to work on Monday. My NUT said weight loss percentage was good and not to worry too much about the scale. She also said under t0 grams of carbs was too low. She also said over the next couple mo,the to increase calories to 1100. It's always a little scary but I will try. I went for fun today to try on clothing and I am down 2 sizes. It felt good to try on things I liked that for. I highly recommend it even if you don't buy anything. It does lift the spirits up!

@@JosieAppleHead a good day is one that i have limitless energy, do my limited exercises, and do not have to stay up late to finish my Water  . A bad day means i am eating some Protein at 9ish because i do not have enough for the day, but can't take another shake or have to go to bed late so I can finish my Water. On these days, i am tired, so i usually fall sleep in the afternoon. While the nap feels good, I loose the time for water intake.

I usually have a bad day once a week, so I guess they are getting less as time passes. I am a teacher, so I am sure once school starts up things will change. I have begun planning for that time. I have a new thermos that stays cold for 12 hours that I will use for my shakes. This way, I can leave it on my desk with my water and switch between them during the day. I am worried about getting my water in while I am teaching, but I am sure I will just get used to walking around with my water.

I have not hit a stall yet, although i didn't loose for two different days due to cycle. I am just focusing on Protein and water and NOT eating ANY carbs. If a protein has a carb, then of course, but it seems to be working. I miss salads and tortillas. I did make cheese chips for a crunch, but I only eat them about once a week. I have gooten my "salad" fix by just dipping my chicken thighs in light Cesar dressing. Cheesy, but it worked  .

What does your good day/bad day look like? Any suggestions??

You are doing awesome and I admire your commitment and progress. What does a good day / bad day look like for me? I have more bad days than good. I am still trying to break out of my old habits of sitting around and pondering doing something. I must say that this sleeve has given me my life back. I was on all kinds of high blood pressure meds at least three, plus cholesterol med and taking the diabetic pill. I gained close to 20lbs in the time I signed up for the surgery and going through my meetings. I strongly believe my meds are to blame for most of my 20lb weight gain. but I digress. I also felt before surgery everyday as if I was about to have a heart attack, after surgery this pain went away.

A good day:

7am- 8am Wake up drink my protein shale within 30min of waking 23 g protein.

followed by a 20oz of water

walk for 30 min

followed by 20z of water

wait 20 min 1 egg with spinach maybe low fat cheese/ turkey bacon (once a day multi Vitamin, opurity, so gross)

snack

hour later Protein Drink 23 g protein and a snack I love cucumbers and tomatoes in a sweet vinaigrette sauce with seasoning

more 20oz water (when water gets boring I use a zero calorie sweeter)

lunch

grilled chicken breast (what I can eat of it)

20oz water ( 2 Calcium citrate pills)

Snack

boiled egg fancied up/ or chicken salad

dinner

baked salmon (what I can eat)

Broccoli/roasted sweet potato

20z water 45min to an hour later with 2 calcium citrate pills

Snack

diced apples/mixed nuts unsalted

water

I try to get in 120 oz of water which will hydrate me and flush out the fat. most days this isn't possible but I try

also I try to get my longest walk in in the morning so anywhere from 30 min to an hour. 30 min is 1 1/2 mile and and an hour is about 3 miles my goal is 5 miles a day which most days do not happen. I usually get those in by doing 10 minutes at a time in-between doing other things. or late night on the treadmill catching a movie or video or something.

Bad day they very from OMG bad to just barely bad

wake up 9am and just lay there , Vitamins, Protein Shake

20oz of water no Breakfast

no snack

lunch is Breakfast, no exercise

fried egg or piece of chicken grilled (calcium citrate)

usually no exercise on this day

no snack/ no water / no protien

dinner

Grilled chicken

water/ 2 calcium citrate

snack

Protein Drink

I avoid carbs and usually look at the package if it has more than 5 g of carbs I usually avoid it there are some exceptions but very rare. I am losing slowly and I am okay with that because it is consistent. I know once my exercise picks up I will lose more. Right now I am averaging weight loss of maybe 2 or 3 pounds a week.

Was sleeved on June 24th.. Lost 20lbs since surgery. I was concerned that i was losing too slowly but from the other posts on here i feel better. Even though i can eat. I still drink 2 Protein Shakes a day to make sure to meet my daily Protein goals. I have been walking 4 - 5 days a week. About 4 miles a day. Surgeon says i should start some weight training. So I'll start that Monday. I feel great and my clothes feel better. Hope i can do another 20lbs this month so i can be under 200lbs. Then I'll have my first party..yay.

Hi .... I had my surgery on June 17th. Down 30 pounds since surgery, but I lost 43 pounds during my year and 2 month pre-surgery 'ordeal'. I cleared all pre-surgical testing except the gastroenterologist found some stomach 'condition' that i had to treat for four months until he was able to clear it up. I feel like I've been at this forever...and that I should be 'done' already...lol. Anyway, grateful for the forum where we can hear everyone's stories and know wer're not alone out there!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
