Hi everyone. I'm super bummed. I had the sleeve on June 24th so I'm about 3.5 weeks out from that. Last week I got really sick. Couldn't hold anything down. I got dangerously dehydrated and was hospitalized. My gallbladder was removed on Friday. Now I've got more incision sights and I feel like I'm back at square one with pain. I've got 2 weeks of lifting restrictions again too. Anybody else had these surgeries so close? I'm kinda feeling sorry for myself. Any tips? I'm terrified to eat or drink now. It's like I can't stop thinking about how bad I felt last week. My dehydration was so bad I couldn't walk because my muscles in legs would cramp up so bad. Now my arms and legs are so sore from the cramping. I feel like I got hit by a train.

Thank you so much! This has been so rough on my family. Especially my 16 month old daughter who is still breastfeeding. I'm ready to feel normal again.

Now I'm having an allergic reaction to the antibiotics they put me on so all 8 of my incisions are itching like crazy.

Yes, I had my gall bladder removed 4 weeks after my VSG surgery.

I actually did pretty well. My VSG surgeon did the gall bladder removal, so he knew what he was working with and around. I didn't have any of the itching you describe. I just napped. (Note that I don't have a 16-month-old child to care for ... wow!)

It took me only about a week to "catch up" to where I was pre-gall bladder surgery.

And as far as the new scars are concerned, in a year you'll be hard pressed to find ANY of your scars from either surgery.

Keep your eye on the prize. That's the only thing that matters.

Thanks! Yes the same surgeon did both of my surgeries too. He's very thorough so I redid the EGD and swallow test and had the ultrasound for the gallbladder. He wanted to double check that it was just the gallbladder causing me trouble.

I just had my gallbladder out about a week ago. So it's been about 4 months since my sleeve. The itching around my incisions from the tape, O.M.G.

It took 2 weeks for my itching to go away, but mine was from the surgical glue the doc sewed me up with. If you take rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and go over the places where the tape was it'll get the extra glue off. I'm also allergic to adhesive in tapes and bandaids.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
