Since January 2015 I've lost 44 lbs. my surgery Roux en Y Gastric Bypass was April 27. Since my surgery I've lost about 30 -- seems kind of slow, but that's more than 10 lbs per month! (I started with a BMI of about 40.). I've hired a personal trainer for strength and I've been walking 40-60 minutes at least 4x week. Very happy with my decision to have the surgery.

My A1C was 14.9 at its highest. I was taking humalog 50/50 and not having much glucose control. 2 days after sugery my glucose was good enough that they stopped giving me insulin in the hospital, and I haven't taken any since then. My currect A1C (this month actully) 5.5! Best decision ever!

Before surgery, my A1C was at a 7, but I had to take insulin at night and take glipizie in the morning and in the evening. Since surgery ( June 22) I am off all my meds and blood pressure meds as well

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
