Sleeved June10th 2015 and STILL at a stall!

Recommended Posts

I think one HUGE mistake I have made is eating fat free refried Beans (which I love). I can only eat 2-3 tablespoons but since they are loaded with carbs...I guess it adds up if I eat them several days a week. And yes, I have just realized that the yogurt I eat daily has 15 carbs!! So...out that goes. Sounds like eggs, cheese, chicken and fish for me from no on. Trying to stay away from sugar-free foods because of the apartame. Let's see what the next week brings! :P

You can do it!!! The struggle is tough but I try to focus on how full the meat makes me and not think about yogurt and oatmeal and refried Beans cause I love them to!!!! Lol we will just keep keeping on! It's exciting to realize poor choices and move away from them. Makes me feel like I'm really changing and really doing this!!! Good luck Hun! ????

I was also sleeved June 10th and had a stall that started just after week 3 lasted 9-10 days. I just started losing again earlier this week. I was reading more about stalls here on the boards and started upping my Water intake. It was @@Rogofulm who posted this - http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.php - about why you need lots of Water when losing weight. It helped me a lot. You will make it through, try not to worry too much or feel bad during the stall.

Thank you. I was expecting the 3 week stall that everyone was talking about but mine started early and hasn't let up. The link was helpful as well. I find myself hurrying to bed in hopes that I'll wake up and see a pound loss :/ I'll just keep riding it out and try and up my Water intake.

Ok so after 24 days of the same weight I woke up -2 lbs!! Thank you sweet baby jesus. 2lbs is nothing for some people but it's pretty major for me. Now let's hope it stays off :) thanks for everyone's encouragement and advice.

okay...almost a week later and my 2lbs are gained back. Talk about frustration to the fullest.

At three weeks I stalled for two and a half weeks. And I just got through another two week stall (I'm 14 weeks out today and down 50 pounds). The stalls end. They suck, but they're temporary and you're not doing anything wrong.

I'm so bummed. I'm 6 weeks post op today and at the exact same weight as 1 week post op. How does one stall for 5 weeks??

I sure am. Brought it in to my doc at my 3 week appointment and he said the only thing I may want to do is increase increase my calories but I find that hard when I'm eating so little. There's been days my Protein is all the way up to 90 with 50-60 oz of Water as well..

He also mentioned because I was pretty darn healthy before surgery I may be a slower loser which bummed me out..but I'm not losing anything at all.

I know I've lost inches because things fit a bit more loose, I wish I would have done measurements before hand but to stand on the scale and be the same exact weight still is just depressing. I guess I just have to ride it out and keep doing what I know I'm supposed to do and see what happens.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
