Im scheduled to have my Sleeve done on 23rd July, I'm now worried that

a) am I not heavy enough at 295 to have this done, as the majority of videos are from guys bigger than me

B) will I be able to return to play soccer and have enough energy to do so

I was all set, my mind was made up but in last 24 hours I have been second guessing myself, is this normal?

Thanks in advance

I was 260 pounds prior to my RNY gastric bypass surgery. I am 5 foot 7 inches tall. At this point I am 2 years post-op and down to 148 pounds. So I don't think you are too thin for weight loss surgery. But since you have a different medical system in the U.K., it might cause you problems with financial coverage. I don't think it will negatively affect your ability to play soccer. It might actually make you better able to play, by improving your stamina levels.

I was basically the same weight on surgery day, 4/1/14. I'm 168 lbs today, my energy levels and general ability to do stuff still amazes me.

Best. Decision. Ever.

Good luck!

Im feeling better about it, now just to try and stop the sagging skin, but I guess swimming or something will help that

I'm also 5 foot 11. I weighed about 291 when I started dieting before surgery. My surgery weight was 245. I had some low energy after surgery but feel pretty good now. (Almost 3 weeks post op)

At 11 weeks post op, my body is healing nicely and I am already able to do many things I could not before, including walking. I swim much better, faster, easier. I don't know how old you are, but clearly if you are like others, this will save your life...and make your years more fulfilling. For me diabetes, high blood pressure, high blood fats, edema were going to kill me young....now all gone, all better... you will not regret this.

I'm 5'10", 300lbs, 54 years old. Type I I diabetes, high bp, high cholesterol, severe sleep apnea, loosing flexibility and scheduled for August 13th for VSG. I started second guessing myself but reminded myself that I did the research and weighed the benefits and risks and made my decision based on facts. Decision made so now it's time to focus on the job at hand. Keep looking forward!

You are very smart to get this done so young. I am 64, wish I had done it a decade ago.

Did it at 51, I was active but saw the warning signs that in less than a decade I'd be hit with all sorts of negative stuff from the weight. I prepped and did it. In the 220's after starting off 2014 at 305. Everything is better. No regrets.

Bigbobo,

I had second thoughts before the surgery but the results are WELL worth it.

I am 6'1" and weighed 293 when I started my journey in October 2014. Weighed 265 on surgery day 12-15. This morning weighed 182.6. No more diabetes, no more HBP, cholesterol, or other prescription meds. 58 years old should have done the surg years ago.

If you are mentally ready, you will be fine. Good luck!

You are doing great. I'm also 5'10" and was hoping to average about 10 lbs per month which looks like you have achieved. One month to go till I get my sleeve!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
