Hello, My Name is Fiona Ren. I am 26 years old, been married for 5 years and have 2 children, A 5 year old boy, and a 3.5 year old girl. I have struggled with weight my whole life, i was 40lbs over weight at 13 years old (almost everyone in my family was, my mom had just had her 9th child and was 350lbs) So my mom and dad put us all on adkins diet, i lost 30lbs in 30 days. And i did ok at keeping it off.

When i was 18 and left home i ate almost nothing (like a corn dog a day) and i was 109lbs and a size 3 but so so sick and unhealthy. I got pregnant when i was 19 and didn't even know for 3 months just thought i was gaining weight because i had started drinking heavily, once i found out i stopped drinking but my body was so messed up and sick that i had a still born at about 7 months along.

I started trying to eat the Atkins way again to get healthier but not gain a ton of weight...well i wound up getting to 145lbs which wasn't a bad weight for me at 5ft 4in. But then i met my no husband and we ate together (somehow he doesn't gain weight) i was 180lbs 5 months into us dating, no big deal right, he proposed and we were engaged...a month later we found out we were pregnant and through that pregnancy i gained a lot of weight, i was about 260 after he was born...figured i could just lose it no big deal......5 months later we were pregnant again (they told me you can't get pregnant while breast feeding...they were wrong) so i barely had lost any weight and was pregnant again, i cried for 3 days i didn't want to be pregnant again cause that meant i woudn't be losing weight anytime soon, but i got over it and i love my kids so much i wouldn't change anything (except maybe finding a nutritionist that didn't tell me it was ok and normal to gain 60 to 70lbs per pregnancy). So after our daughter was born i was about 320lbs....that went away fast a month later i had lost 30lbs.

Then i started doing paleo and lost another 30ishlbs and thought this was easy...but then the stall happened, right at about 260lbs......for about a year, then i started paleo again super super strict with intermittent fasting as well, plus 2 hours working out a day 5 days a week. I got down to 198lbs and was feeling good....but then we moved and i lost all momentum on the working out...still doing great with the eating habits, but just taking the working out down to about an hour a day 4 sometimes 5 days a week and i stopped losing weight and somehow put weight back on over the next couple years no matter what i tried i tried vegan, raw vegan (i lost 12 pounds but as soon as i ate cooked food it was back).

So beginning of 2015 i was 240...today i am 237....and i have been watching calories trying to stay at about 1000 a day which isn't being too hard but im not losing hardly anything...i know i need to up the exercise but for some reason it doens't happen. I have an exercise bike that i get on probably 3 days a week for about 40 min, some days ill do better and get on mon-fri 40 min each time and i get about 6 to 8 miles when i do that. and i do yoga stretching every night to help my joints because i am so sore always. I think the soreness makes me not want to workout. i take care of the kids and clean the apartment and everything but sometimes just that makes me sweat (course we are in arizona and it is 110 during the day right now lol)

I am still pre surgery, just heard that our insurance will cover it so making an appointment with the doc to get things going. It will probably be about 7 months before i get the surgery if all goes as planned.

Good luck to you! My surgeon is real big on discarding just watching calories. Protein lower carb. As he pointed out, a slice of chocolate cake can be 1200 calories, and a steak dinner with veggies can be 1200 calories. Which is better? Will chocolate cake help you lose weight? It makes sense. I never put it in those terms before. It's so frustrating doing everything you can to lose weight and not be successful. That's why i had it done. Dieted and stuck to it only to end up gaining the weight I lost plus more. I started going to my surgeon in March and just got sleeved July 2nd. It just depends on what they recommend and insurance recommends. Hope all goes smoothly for you~

I also just started the process but with my insurance I've pretty much already done all that my insurance wants so they said if all goes well I can get my surgery in September at the earliest. This process is well worth the wait ????

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
