New here revision from band to gastric

Recommended Posts

Looking for support and knowledge. I had my band placed in September 2012 first half went great down 100 lbs and so much energy ! My friends thought I started drugs! Super happy right!?! Then I got my band to tight and it's been down hill since. Finally after a year and a half of absolutely no energy and terrible heartburn, even while taking omeprozole, I finally convinced them to do the scope. Well now I have Barrett's esophagus that my band has caused and a high risk of it developing into cancer. Devastated at this point but optimistic that the revision surgery will go great and I can get back to life. Waiting for insurance approval and a surgery date!

Looking forward to being in this group for much needed support! My family lost someone close to me hem who had gastric so they are not supportive of my decision to want to be healthy and run someday!

It is common for people with lap bands to have a revision to RNY gastric bypass surgery. One of the individual in our support group went through this process when his band started to cut into his stomach. After surgery he was very happy with the results.

Thank you all for the encouraging words! Got my band removed Tuesday so on the heeling path. Once heeled then we are doing RNY! My dr wouldn't do the gastric and removal all at once as my condition was very bad. So I'm looking to see how much weight ppl lost after gastric like in the first few months???? I know that everyone is very different but just curious.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
