It sounds like you're doing really well! I'm WAY behind you in the journey. I went for my first appointment and found out I had to be 4 months nicotine free in order for them to do the surgery. I had a mini-meltdown afterwards, so I decided to work on quitting first, so I can go into this as a non-smoker. Went to my doc and got Chantix. Quit date is July 14th. I'm hoping I can kick this nasty habit so I can move forward with prepping for the surgery. Best wishes to you!

My surgeon didn't even care. ( no he is not a hack, actually awarded a Bariatric Super Doctor award in Texas) Just said to try and start quitting smoking. I think it has to do with insurance sometimes . I have private insurance and they don't cover WLS. My hiatal hernia was bad enough they approved it and he said I'm a go. I smoked until the week before. I didn't know crap about the smoking deal until I started reading this forum. I wish you the best and beating the Beast (nicotine) is rough. Keep us updated.

Thank you! I'm on day 3 of the chantix today. The only thing I've noticed is I don't sleep very well. Normally, it doesn't take me long to go to sleep, and I sleep well all night long. Not so much with this stuff. I either dream more, or remember them more? Not any nightmares, just strange dreams. ANYWAY, I have to keep my eye on the prize. The same center that does the surgery also has a weight management program. I'm going to join that so I can hopefully keep any weight gain from stopping the cigs to a minimum.

I wish you the best too! Your outcome makes me very hopeful.

Dwood

Check out the videos from Dr. Mathew Weiner. He has some great information including the "myths" of WLS. Basically the "stretching" the pouch is virtually impossible.

Dwoodtx...I was sleeved the same day as well...and I can tolerate and get the liquids down easily too; I just have a slight feeling of restriction after some gulps, but I'm doing well. I had sane feelings, but I think as another member said, after real foods, we will feel real "restrictions". Hang in there brother!

Well, I am at 12 days out now and I have good and bad days energy wise. I about ready to punt a Protein shake to the moon!!! I bought a variety of flavors, Ispure, Syntrax nectar, etc...I started liquids 2 weeks pre-op and I am SICK of liquids. lol. SICK OF THEM!!! I can't start "soft foods" until week 3( day 22, which is July 22). 12 more days of liquid...my eyeballs are floating from all the Water, Protein and liquid I drink.

Sorry...starting to lose my mind.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
