Hi all

If you take antidepressants, have you had problems w/reflux and/or vomiting (not PBing) that seem to be correlated w/ when you take your antidepressants? I'd love to provide my doctors with an sense of how often this occurs -- or if it just happens to a very lucky few.

Thanks!

This is an interesting question. My doc just put me on Luvox (similar to prozac/zoloft) to stop PBing, nausea, vomiting, etc. He said the drugs work by changing the nerve impulses between the stomach and brain. I thought it was just tricyclics (Elavil, Sinequan, etc.) that did that but my thoughts were incorrect.

When I was on prozac about 4 years ago I had terrible heartburn all the time, especially if I took them on an empty stomach. To be fair though once I went over a BMi of 35 I had reflux all the time too!

I take Wellbutrin WL, Selexa, and Topamax. :) I was banded early Sept 2006 and had no problem with acid reflux until this June. I think this might have been kicked off by an overfill. :phanvan

I haven't had any panic attack since my operation. I don't know if it's due to not drinking caffeine anymore.

It's funny you should mention this. My sister's husband has had terrible trouble with vomiting and taking his anti-depressant. I am also on anti-depressants for a neurological dysfunction and Migraine and do have reflux, but I think that is just from being overweight. Hopefully it is a thing of the past!

My dietician told me I would have to open up my 2 x Prozac and let them dissolve in Water before I took them. I thought that Prozac was slow release so I am a bit concerned.

Whenever mood disorder I take Endep medication. This medication is class of tricyclic antidepressants. Amitriptyline relieves anxiety and tension, increases energy level and so on. Slowly return back to normal.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
