One week post-op HOW ARE WE DOING?

How are all our friends who had surgery this week? I had my sleeve done on June 25th and i was doing great at the hospital, using the restroom regularly, able to walk well. Now that i'm home i am struggling a bit without hospital pain meds. It's not unbearable by any means, but it feels like i did 800 sit ups and i cant bend over, bend to the side, getting in and out of bed hurts too, and i have a very slight burning sensation toward the bottom of my belly. Hope thats normal. Im doing my best to get liquids down, but its almost half the day and i'm down only half a bottle. The pressure and discomfort in my chest reminds me of the endoscopy discomfort but thats doing much better after day one. Good news, i've been releasing a lot of the gas which has helped but i still feel like a blimp full of helium walking around. How's everybody else doing in their first week post op??

I was sleeved on the 20th and I am feeling great as well. After day 2 I was doing great and not having any pain. I had a little gas but it wasn't terrible. I have been getting in about 65g of protein

My doc told me that I could have anything I could suck through a straw (but don't use a straw). Like blended soup and whatnot. Is that not what everyone else is doing? I had surgery on the 24th

I was sleeved on the 25th. The first couple of days I was really sore and slept a lot. Today I am taking Tylenol only and feeling better. I am still struggling with liquids. So far I've got 40 oz water down today and am working on my 3rd protein shake. I'm trying to get 60 oz water down before the end of today!

Good luck! I haven't had too much trouble getting water in, but it has to be room temp and in a cup. If I drink it out of a bottle I get too much air.

What a bunch of rockstars!!! Great reports on eating/drinking and exercise.

I am still sore - taking extra extra strength tylenol morning and evening. Walking twice a day (one mile this morning.) Fluids are usually about 56 oz with 44-48 gm Protein. My surgeon has me follow a pureed diet and it simply is not appealing.

It gets better everyday..stay on the plan and your journey will take you to success.

I agree! It sounds like everyone is doing tremendous. I have to say that I was antisipatinf a lot more paina and nausea, but i havent had nausea except once right out of the hospital and pain is down to a two now. Im feeling dehydrated, im really trying to get liquids in, especially since it's not painful anymore, but i just feel stuffed. I have one concern, hoping someone can help me out here:

Since I got home from surgery, the outrr sides of both thighs have been numb, especially when I lay down. I constantly have to shake my legs and get up to walk, but even so, i have a lot of numbness and tingling feelings on both outer thighs. No burning, pain, or itchiness like I've read about online, just numb. Pinched nerve? Could this be effects of anesthesia still 4 days later? Any advice or thoughts is helpful. I'm also seeing my doc for my first week appointment so i'll bring it up. Take care guys!

@@PChayy05 I've noticed that my butt gets tired of sitting since I've lost some weight. I wonder if your numbness could be caused by that. It might be a good idea to run it my your surgeon though.

Will do. Going in tomorrow. Thanks

Hi guys,

I was sleeved on June 25th, I'm doing alright. Today is my first day off of Clear Liquids ( should be 5 weeks of full liquids, follower by soft foods).

Pain isn't bad- but the outside part of my right thigh is numb, and my left calf muscle is cramping up a lot.

I'm trying my best to drink my Protein shake and enough Water, but I really do want to eat something savory. Like a spoonful of hummus, even sour cream!

Anyone else bored out of their minds?

Hey I'm having the same issue with my right thigh. It's mostly asleep and then I wake up from a pretty bad pinching pain. I called my surgeon and he said it's related to the procedure- and SHOULD go back to normal in a few weeks. He said it's not anything like a blood clot God forbid.

@@TexasGirl86 that's good to know. I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow so I'll get a clear answer but my entire right right leg is really really numb and there's a burning sensation. I just went walking for 30min and it seems like it got worse! Here's hoping everything is fine. :)

As far as your pain goes, it will get better!! I was sleeved the 23rd and I'm feeling good. My pain is basically gone except for where the muscle was stitched under the skin. I can barely get my protein in though, and anything that has dairy or is creamy/rich is giving me nausea, which means my protein shakes lol. This phase is so hard for me only because of the nausea. But then again I've always been sensitive to dairy food (stupid whey protein). I can't wait for soft foods in a couple weeks!

@@PChayy05 oh my gosh that sounds crazy! I hope all is well with you! I'll keep you in my thoughts!

You guys, I thought having like a 1/3 of a sugar free fudge pop would be ok- noooooot so much. Half way through I felt nauseous so I stopped. (Sad) buuuuut I did try 2 oz of sugar free chocolate pudding with a spoon of lite cool whip and it was awesome! (Even though I whipped it up with a fork to get it to be thinner, it was still a little too rich. I ended up leaving about half, but sooooooooo good after the broths and juices.)

I also snuck like half a teaspoon of hummus- I'm middle eastern, I just wanted something garlicky in my life! Didn't bother me :)

But I was short by about 20 grams of Protein today. I'm going to substitute the Soups and Popsicles for low fat Greek yogurt which has 12 grams of protein + my shakes :)
