    Gallbladder Removal

It took 2 weeks for my itching to go away, but mine was from the surgical glue the doc sewed me up with. If you take rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and go over the places where the tape was it'll get the extra glue off. I'm also allergic to adhesive in tapes and bandaids.
  2. Hi everyone. I'm super bummed. I had the sleeve on June 24th so I'm about 3.5 weeks out from that. Last week I got really sick. Couldn't hold anything down. I got dangerously dehydrated and was hospitalized. My gallbladder was removed on Friday. Now I've got more incision sights and I feel like I'm back at square one with pain. I've got 2 weeks of lifting restrictions again too. Anybody else had these surgeries so close? I'm kinda feeling sorry for myself. Any tips? I'm terrified to eat or drink now. It's like I can't stop thinking about how bad I felt last week. My dehydration was so bad I couldn't walk because my muscles in legs would cramp up so bad. Now my arms and legs are so sore from the cramping. I feel like I got hit by a train.

    Gallbladder Removal

Thanks! Yes the same surgeon did both of my surgeries too. He's very thorough so I redid the EGD and swallow test and had the ultrasound for the gallbladder. He wanted to double check that it was just the gallbladder causing me trouble.

    Gallbladder Removal

Now I'm having an allergic reaction to the antibiotics they put me on so all 8 of my incisions are itching like crazy.

    Gallbladder Removal

Thank you so much! This has been so rough on my family. Especially my 16 month old daughter who is still breastfeeding. I'm ready to feel normal again.

    Over Eating

I have a problem. I always eat one bite too much and end up in excruciating pain. It doesn't matter if I measure everything out or not. Like I can't even eat 1/4 cup of cottage cheese. Am I alone in this? I need some pointers because I can't keep doing this to myself. 2 weeks post op as of today and on soft foods per doc's orders.
  7. Hi! I had my sleeve done on June 24th (8 days ago). I'm probably being way too anxious about things, but how long did everyone stay on their pain meds post surgery? I have been doing great, and not needing anything for pain during the day. Last night I took tylenol instead of the Hycet my doc had prescribed. I was really sore when I woke in the morning. I decided to take the Hycet tonight to guard against that same morning pain tomorrow, but here's the deal- I like the way it makes me feel. I'm so relaxed, not in any discomfort, and just kind of numb. I'm very nervous about starting to become addicted or something. I have a 16 month old daughter that still breastfeeds. Hycet is safe for nursing moms for short periods, but I want to limit her exposure to it obviously. I think having such an active toddler also causes me to be more sore. She rolls all around all over me, kicks her feet, and flails her hands into my belly alot on accident. I try to be super careful, but it's just a hazard of being a mom. Am i overthinking this? My boyfriend says that because of my high pain tolerance, I'm probably in more discomfort than I realize so when I take it it's just a huge relief. I hope he's right. Basically, I'm terrified of becoming an addict. Maybe I'm crazy. Then on the other hand, I want to feel like this because I feel so good right now.

    Pain Meds After Sleeve Surgery

Thank you guys for reassuring me! I don't take them at all during the day anymore, just one dose before bed. Hopefully in a few days I won't need them anymore

  10. TMI I know, but I've had like practically uncontrollable watery diarrhea all day. Is that normal or worth calling the doc about you think?

    Sleeved on Wednesday, June 24th

I just got off the phone with a surgeon. They recommended I take immodium. Hubby just ran to the pharmacy and I took it. Hopefully it gets better. I'm doing so well on my liquids I don't want to get dehydrayed.

One week post-op HOW ARE WE DOING?

Good luck! I haven't had too much trouble getting water in, but it has to be room temp and in a cup. If I drink it out of a bottle I get too much air.

I'm so worried right now though. I hope this is normal. I can't take a drink of anything without needing to be literally on the toilet

One week post-op HOW ARE WE DOING?

My doc told me that I could have anything I could suck through a straw (but don't use a straw). Like blended soup and whatnot. Is that not what everyone else is doing? I had surgery on the 24th

I took one on Friday but that's all. This just started today. I wonder if it's related.

One week post-op HOW ARE WE DOING?

I was sleeved June 24th and having horrible migraine level headaches. I've been home since the 26th. I'm trying to switch to tylenol during the day so I'm not taking so much of the narcotic pain medicine. Yesterday I was able to get about 60g of protein in and about 110oz of fluids. I feel like I'm doing ok in that regard. I've taken a stool softener for the constipation problem.
  17. I came home yesterday. So far I'm not having trouble with fluids or Protein shakes. How long after surgery did you stay on pain meds? I'm able to go 6 hours between taking them, but much longer than that and I'm in serious pain again. I'm trying to get my Vitamins sorted out too. I'm still breastfeeding my 16 month old, so it's extra important that I get good vitamins taken when I'm supposed to. What Calcium supplement does everyone take? What about Iron? I'm sure I'll have more questions as I think about things.

I see my surgeon on Thursday so I'll be 8 days post op. I'm going to hold off on any major decisions until then.

    Breastfeeding after surgery?

I know this is an older thread. Have you all had surgery yet? I had the sleeve done on June 24th and have successfully continued nursing my 16 month old. I did some research before the surgery my primary care doc said it shouldn't be a problem at all. My nutritionist said to wean. Surgeon said to do whatever I wanted to do. There's some info with La Leche League International that says bypass moms can continue nursing so I figured a sleever would be fine. She's contentedly nursing to sleep as I type this. Positioning has been the only thing that's been super rough, but side lying and football hold have been best. I had a c section with her do I already know what it's like nursing after abdominal surgery. I try to get the orgain protein shakes because they're organic. I like to watch what transfers from me to her. Most meds are safe to breastfeed on especially when your baby is older. They gave me Reglan in the hospital for stomach calming effects which I thought was ironic. You can look up MommyMeds app or Dr Thomas Hale's infant risk center for more info about medications and lactation.

    Breastfeeding after surgery?

Have you had your surgery yet? I had in on June 24th and have continued nursing my 16 month old daughter. Positioning has been interesting, but so far so good. She eats a lot of table food too so I'm honestly not worried about breastmilk quality at this point. I do know that she missed her momma while I was gone, and nursing is a huge way for her to connect to me right now.

    Sleeved June 24th & I have questions

Thanks everyone! I figured it was normal to be on the pain meds for a while after. I can take them every 4 hours, but during the day I've been comfortably going 6 to 8 hours between doses. My doc told me to start vitamins once I was home so that's what I was thinking about. I've got some bariatric chewable vitamins. I'm sure I'll be fine for a bit longer.

    Stomach growling

I had this happen too. I had my surgery on June 24th. At first the growling kind of hurt, but now it's faded away.
