What level did you find your green zone?

Recommended Posts

So I have 5ml in a 10ml lapband (ml's are the same as cc's). I really thought that when I had my last fill 2 weeks ago that this would see me perfectly to the green zone... For the first 2 weeks I've eaten a lot less but here we are 2 weeks down the track and I can still eat way more than I would like to. Don't get me wrong, I do make every effort to lessen the amount of food that I eat, but when I am feeling hungry, I fit in way more than I wish I could. I always stop when I feel my soft stop signals (runny nose or a burp) and I know I'll get there. I have another appointment scheduled for 3 weeks time and hopefully I'll get there soon. At what level did you find your green zone?? - Patience is key!!

5 in a 10 was my green zone for a long time. I eventually went up to 6 once I started experiencing signs that I was edging out of the green zone. 6 in a 10 was good for me.

The "green" zone is subjective to everyone. My husband is doing great at 4 in a 10cc and I am up to 6.5 in a 10 cc.

The trick is that just because you can eat doesn't mean you should eat. (trust me I fight with this one also) I have days where I don't want to eat anything and I can run most of the day on a Protein bar and then I have days where I am eating 3 meals and looking for something else and it's hunger not just wanting to snack. (of course I have those days also)

For me I find that on the day I have a work out at the gym I am not very hungry, and then the next day I am ravenous. I try to keep it to high Protein foods to help replenish and heal the muscles I am working out, but I notice that those days I am more hungry than not and my band is accommodating.

When my band is not accommodating toward eating is usually the days when I am the least hungry. Of course my mind still tells me I need to eat because I need to eat....but my band will tell me ah..no you don't.

5cc for me but I still struggle to eat only when I'm hungry not when it's "time" to eat or I'm bored.

It has been a really slow process for me. I have had a fill each month since January. I thought maybe my band had a hole in it but my Dr said no since he pulls the liquid out each month before adding more. I'm so glad I asked cause I was sure it had a hole in it. Lol. Well my last fill was at 9 in a 10 bad and I finally feel like I have a band. So I know what ur going through although you have done really well. I've been hanging on trying not to lose the initial weight I lost. This is certainly a journey and I look forward to learning how to figure it all out so I can lose some weight. It's been hard not getting down on myself and worried about people judging me knowing I had surgery and not seeing any weight loss.

Hi there, I am some one who required several fills over time. My doctor does not share the amount so I don't know how much is in my band. I would get a fill and experience a dimmed appetite, but then it's as though that would wear off and I'd be hungry again. I just kept at it and I even had to have a couple of tiny unfills in-between as I was figuring my way through the process. Our bodies are all different. My surgeon described being satisfied with a tennis ball sized portion (his lingo) for 4-5 hours. I'd have the serving size part but not the duration.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
