I saw my surgeon a good week post op and my next appointment is in 6months. Are you guys doing any follow up with your Pcp?

I am not doing any with my PCP. However, I saw my surgeon and NUT at 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, 5 months.

I probably should have seen my PCP right after surgery when my BP numbers started to improve. Instead I just stopped my BP meds.

1 week post-op and then 6 months seems far apart. Although I guess those that have surgery in Mexico have no real follow-up.

When I was discharged from the hospital, the nurse told me I had to follow up with my PCP within a week of surgery. I called my PCP, and they told me that I didn't need to come in for an appointment as long as I was following up with my surgeon regularly.

I had surgery 4 weeks ago and I have a regular appointment with my PCP in September. So I'm just going to wait until then. I saw the surgeon yesterday and I'm seeing him again in 6 weeks. Plus I saw the dietician and will see her again mid-July. That's good enough for me.

I feel good but I worry that I don't have to see him again for six months. I am thinking of seeing my PCP to make sure am on track

My surgeon's office recommended I see my PCP after my first month surgery follow-up to see if any of my meds needed to be adjusted. I also made an appointment with my sleep doctor because I needed an adjustment on my BiPap. I wound up getting a new BiPap because mine was several years old and the new ones automatically adjust.

I see my PCP post surgery on a regular basis. My surgeon recommended I keep him informed of my progress. I'm glad I do.

No follow up with PCP but saw surgeon one week after surgery, one month mark, three months, six months, and one year. Thereafter once a year. I see my PCP every six months for other health issues and prescription refills. Same with cardiologist. Once a year with pulminologist.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
