Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, well my time has come and i'm scared to death, not about getting the band but if the band will work for me. I've tried so many diets and i'm always hungry. I'm scared that I will fill hungry all the time. My sister is having the band put on also, (the same day) I'm hoping that she will help me through this. Does anyone feel this way?:help:

Hi TinaGirl!

Congrats on your band date! Both you and your sister will be do great. You are both so fortunate to have each other & experience this at the same time - that support is great! The band will work for you guys - it's a tool, you make it work for you. Don't worry about the hunger or anything else, focus on how your quality of life will improve.

I wish the both of you the best of luck!

See ya'll in bandland!

I was very worried about being able to do it also. You will be amazed at how this helps. I say this at only 5 days out...but I can see it is habit changing.

Best of luck! You will do great!

Tina, just about everyone feels that way. See, you are NORMAL. And you will get hungry. And your band will see to it that you don't overeat. But first of all, just heal and follow your doctor's orders.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
