2 monthes post op and have lost no weight since week 5

Recommended Posts

I am getting so discouraged. I had my surgery exactly 8 weeks ago. I lost 14 pounds after 4 days in the hospital and have lost about 12 pounds since but I have lost no weight at all in about 3-4 weeks. I do everything my Dr. says. I eat about 600 calories per day, Im eating as much protien as i can about 60 grams per day, I am on a regular food diet now since week 6 but rarely eat anthing but protien. I will eat veggies if I have any room left over. I exersice religiously every day of the week except on weekends. My exersice consists of walking for a 1/2 hour rowing for 15 minutes and bicycling 15 minutes everyday and weight training 3 days per week. Please can anyone tell me if this is normal or what Im doing wrong? I just dont understand why its been so long and I have not even dropped a pound? How can anyone eat so little, work so hard and not lose weight? Has anyone else experienced this and if so what should I do? Any and all help would be appreciated! Im just getting so discouraged.

Geez Louise! You have lost 57 pounds in 10 weeks assuming the rest of the loss you show is from the pre-diet. That is just huge. I beg you to drop to your knees and kiss the feeet of the diet gods! LOL Really, relax! You are doing great and your body is just processing all the changes it already has performed and getting ready to perform. Take a bow! We are all applauding!

Lol no that was not just pre op diet. I was on medical diet for 6 months before surgery. I went from 225 to 194 in that 6 months prior. I weighed in at 194 the day of surgery. In my second week post op I had lost 14 pounds but only 12 pounds since my 3rd week and nothing now for at least 3 weeks. Is this average or normal weight loss? Why am I not losing anymore? I'm getting concerned.

I feel your pain! I haven't lost anything in 2 weeks. I lost 13 pounds in the first week post op. I am now 3 weeks, almost 4 weeks post op. The scale hates me. I don't get what I'm doing wrong either so if you get some info please fill me in cause I'm getting really depressed about all this.

Try to up your calorie intake. I stall if I eat too little and exercise. I get in around 800 to 900 calories a day. Some days I just eat a couple teaspoons of Peanut Butter to get my calories higher. I'm three months out and have lost 52 pounds. It's all good.

A really good thing to do is ask your nutritionist. Be honest with your food journals, write EVERYTHING down or use myfitnesspal or something like that and show the log to your nutritionist. There may be something hidden in the foods that they see that we normally wouldn't see. This happened to me pre-op. On my medically supervised 6 month diet, I gained a few pounds slowly over a month. For the next month, I sent weekly logs to my NUT and she would tweak things or give me suggestions and that really helped. You can do this!!! Another big thing I've learned reading on here is that even if the scale isn't moving, you may be shrinking otherwise.

Keep us posted and good luck!!!

Just to note, you say you eat about 600 calories a day and 60 grams of Protein and most of what you eat is Protein. The numbers don't add up. A gram of protein has 4 calories so that is only 240 calories (less than half) coming from protein.

What is it you eat? Are you drinking Protein shakes? They can help get your protein count up. My count was supposed to be much higher than 60 by that point. How much Water are you drinking?

I drink a Protein Shake for Breakfast and the other half for lunch with two scoops of powder and a Greek yogurt which gives me about 48 grams from powder and 13 from yogurt which is nearly 60 grams and only about 320 calories. Each scoop is 24 grams and 130 calories x2 and the yogurt is 13 grams and 80 calories totaling 61 grams of Protein and 320 calories. For dinner usually about half of a 5 oz chicken breast or fish. I drink my required Water almost every day

Okay great! So that's really more like 80g of protein because of the chicken or fish when you are looking at the full day. Sounds like your eating is great. Maybe it's just about being patient. Hang in there! If you keep on keeping on there's no way you can't lose weight.

I dont think you are eating enough. When i eat more small meals bites even...i lose. I eat a shake for breakfast, a Protein Bar two hours later, a Protein Shake, snack and dinner most Protein. Try to change up your diet.

Yayyy I upped my calories slightly to about 625 and have broken that awful stall! Now I'm losing about a pound every other day since! Thanks everyone for the help and advice!

When you increase your calories a bit your body realizes you are not starving and will let go. The stall will end.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
