I went back to work after three weeks off and I wish I took a fourth week. (I went back this week). I have a stressful job, but not a physical job. I probably would want a fifth week off if I took four off. ????. Do what you can and rest when you can. So far it's working for me. Luckily my children are grown and gone, and my husband is semi-helpful so my evenings aren't too tiring. I don't think I would do well with toddlers to care for. Best wishes to those who do!

I believe that for me 4-weeks off is best because when I go to the store to get groceries or if I move my car, I get really light headed and start feeling nauseous . I know that this is linked to the liquid diet because I'm usually on the go.

I went back 9 days after but I have a work partner I can get to do the "hard" stuff when I wasn't up to it. I think it helped me get back to real life and the reality of work and life!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
