5wk post-op no loss for 3wks

Recommended Posts

I am 5 wks post op,as of yesterday. I lost 23 pounds right off the bat between my pre op diet and the first week post op. Now I havent lost anything for 3 wks. Has anyone else had this problem? I have called my NUT and still waiting for a call back. This is very depressing!

It's perfectly normal. Do a search on the forums for "three week stall." You are right on track. If you are following your program and not making your Protein Shakes with Peanut Butter and ice cream or doing other crazy things with your diet, the weight loss will start again, Just keep doing what you should and maybe stay off the scale for a couple of weeks. Checking in your dietician to make sure you understand the basics and aren't unintentionally veering wildly off course is fine and should help you feel better about what you are doing, but don't be depressed. What you are going through is normal and I promise it will not last forever. Truly, if the scale is stressing you out and making you sad, put it away! The only thing you can control is how well you are following your program. Focus on that and not on stalls or your rate of weight loss. Unfortunately our bodies are in control of that and there isn't much we can do about it, as long as we are following our programs strictly and mindfully. Good luck!

Thank you for that! I think I really needed to hear it. I have been doing everything by the book which is why it makes me so sad to not see a change! Thank you for making me feel better!

@@sandyhoney68 I am almost 6 weeks post (surgery date 5/6/15) and I had a stall about 3 weeks ago for a week and the scale moved again. Now I have another stall going on with a couple of pounds added (Aunt Flo came for a visit). It is depressing regardless. Hang in there, we are in this for the long haul :D

Take pictures, same outfit and something form fitting (I did white tank, black leggings) and stand in a doorway. That will give you a better perspective.

Measure your parts, too. Inches matter more than pounds!!

i hit a stall right at 3 weeks, tomorrow will be 4 weeks for me and the scale dropped two pounds this morning.

i had to start eating more for sure to get it to drop, pushing those meals was hard for me also i increased my gym time. and more protein! ended up getting the unflavored powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and added it to my yogurt i think it helped!

just be patient! your sleeve will work just give your body time to adjust!

Yes it is normal. I hit a stall like that too early on and got really worried, but then after a few weeks, the weight started coming off again. I think our bodies are just catching up to what is happening. Keep following plan and you'll see the scale start to move again soon. Promise! :)

The number of search results you get if you type in "week 3 stall" should clue you in that this happens to pretty much EVERY single person. We seriously get at least 2-3 posts per day here asking this exact same question. So you are not alone! Hang in there. Stick to the plan. And the scale will move again!

My surgery was on 4/30/15. I lost 25lbs the first 3 weeks then stalled for 2 weeks. It was comforting to know I was not alone, however, it was still so frustrating. How could I eat 500-600 calories at my size and not drop weight. I did lose inches which was nice, but I am scale obsessed. The scale did mover again, and it seems to move almost daily now. I know another stall will come and hopefully I will be better equipped to power through it. Keep working your program the scale will move!

Thank yall. I needed to hear all of of this. Finally down one pound. But that's ok, i feel better about it. I guess I just wasn't expecting to stall out so early on. I should have taken my measurements before my surgery as I know I have lost inches. My husband showed me a photo taken about a month before my surgery and you can really tell the difference.

Dropped 20 pounds in week one/two then have been stalled for 10 days now. Actually up a couple of pounds and that's with swimming every day, being male, and sticking to the plan. A little scared when I dropped 20 so fast now a scared after not losing for 10 days. Hearing people say it's common is a little comfort but I'll be glad when I get used to riding this bronco.

I'm in a stall too. It's starting to feel like there will be a stall about every month. :(

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
