My latest NSV is that I am down to a size 18 from size 24. I am down 57 lbs since banding and 83 lbs from my post banding diet. Whoo Hoo. I am size 14/16 on top so I am almost in normal size there. Feels good.

I couldn't figure out why I had such a hard time starting my car....couln't push the clutch in far enough...duh! HAD TO MOVE THE SEAT UP!! I have gone to tight 4x-5x to an 18--boy am I surprised!! as for not changing sizes quickly--the clothes were tight stretch to start with--so no mater how much I lost I was in a size a long time. Now at regular sizes in a real store I am xl/18...I do most of my shopping at resale shops--not going to give one more penny retail if I can help it!!!LOL!!

so i have great news.................went to lane bryant yesterday with my sister and the babies.............

pre-surgery i was in a size 22/24 or even 26/28 shirt..................i bbought a size 18/20 shirt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! now it is snug, but fits, i want to wear it for nicky's bday party on 8/4, so i think it will be fine by then! as for pants, i was a size 28 before surgery, and i bought these pedal pants in a size 26 and they fit nice.

i know i am still humungous, but just even buying a sm aller size is soooo exciting!!!!!

I have yet to have anyone say anything about my weight loss. My mother kept asking my husband why it was working for him (down 68lbs) and not for me, when she was here on vacation. Even my wonderful husband has not said anything.

I hadn't noticed much change in how my clothes fit, but I have been wearing shorts and big t-shirts for 4 weeks now. I started back to work this week and can button all of my scrubs! I have been wearing them open with t-shirts under them for a long time even though it is against our dress code. I had to replace a couple of buttons, so I could wear them - didn't matter before. I think I will be able to wear my old clothes for quite awhile, but I am starting feel like I don't have to pull them down or rearrange them to cover something up. At 5'1" I will probably have to lose 150# before anyone will notice, but as long as the scale keeps moving in the right direction I am happy.

I have a necklace that I wear all of the time; it's my zodiac. It's my 'staple' necklace, weekends, etc. Anyway, today I went to grab it (habit)...and noticed it was quite a bit LOWER on my breast bone. It's an 18" chain. It's always hung up in the soft 'hole' in front of my lower neck. Now it's below that! WHOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO :whoo:

Well, I'm still lingering around 20 pounds lost, but no one has noticed mine either. People sure notice that I eat different though!! (The people who don't know about the band.)

I have been able to fit into a pair of jeans and a few of my scrub tops that I haven't been able to wear in a year or more!! They're still a bit snug, but I'll take whatever I can get!!

I go back to work in three hours, we'll see if anyone notices anything different.

I have lost over 60 lbs and am still in the same clothes! That's making me crazy! Sure they're a little looser, but I don't feel like they are loose enough that I'd need a smaller size. Grrrrrrr!

faith, it sure does feel good to have someone else notice your weight loss, but if they don't.....don't fret...the most important thing is that your HEART notices your weight loss and is loving you for doing this!!!! You are such an inspiration to all on the boards. You keep it up gurlie, you are great!!

My newest NSV happened a day or so ago. My 2 1/2 year old granddaughter was here with me, and she wanted me to lay on the couch with her. I laid down with her, and her ever faithful bunny, and I could reach around her and still feel more room on the couch!!! So #1--we both fit! and #2 I can reach my arms around us and farther!

I also love being able to paint my own toenails again.

Shopping the misses dept.

I was in the park with the granddaughters and chatting with a woman and of course weight and diets come up (doesn't it always with women???) and she told me "well if I only had as much to lose as you do, I wouldn't worry." I told her HOW I lost almost 100 pounds, she didn't want to believe me! I floated through the rest of my day!!!

About 30 pounds ago, I ran into a girl we went to school with, the perfect cheerleader one, she was always snooty as hell to me---and now---well even then, 30 pounds ago----she was bigger than me!

Keep the NSV's coming, they are sooooo encouraging!

Kat

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
