Hi. My name is Lauren and I am a 21 year old in New Mexico. I have struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. I have finally decided to really do something about it and get the Lap Band. I have my first appointment in Arizona in two weeks and I am so nervous. I just want to get it all done with. Although I'm nervous, I'm really excited to start this new chapter of my life. Any feedback or advice you have would be very much appreciated. I look forward to talking with you. Have a great day.

Welcome to LBT, and congratulations on your decision. I'm wishing that this was around when I was your age!

All the best with your plans.

hiya and welcome , i discovered this site yesterday and am hooked on it .been reading and learning so so so much.

good luck and go for it

i am 6 weeks post op, and just had my first band fill. i have no restriction as yet, as was feeling really abnormal and let down, until i came onto this site and learned that its not uncommon for it to take a few fills for the effects to kick in.

so good luck and i wish you well.. my surgery went really well, a bit sore after, but not much pain at all, i was back to work a week later and driving after 10 days ! so go for it.

with happy banding thoughts

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
