3 wks post op - very low energy

Recommended Posts

Did anyone with band to sleeve revision have really low energy? I am on puree phase and getting at least 50g of Protein, sometimes more and taking my Multivitamin and B12, but feel very lethargic. I can't really exercise too much, because I just don't have the energy. Wanted to know if this was normal and when it ends.

I would work on increasing your Protein a little. Are you getting plenty of fluids? By about day 4 I was able to drink 3 Protein Drinks and get all my fluids in, and really felt the difference. I think it just affects us all differently. The lingering tiredness is common... get plenty of rest, your body is still recovering and telling you it needs that restorative sleep time. I think 2-3 weeks seems common until the energy levels come back.

I'm two weeks out from my conversion and I have also had very low energy. Yesterday I had almost 90 grams of Protein and I can feel a huge difference today. I'm having two Protein Shakes plus two Greek yogurts. Tomorrow I get to add in more soft food like cottage cheese and applesauce so I'm hoping that'll help too!

I was taking B12 and my blood work at my 3 month follow up showed my B12 levels were too high. I started taking Coconut Oil - I bite into the pill and swallow the oil - then spit out the coating. It does seem to give me more energy. I've also noticed that if I eat more thAn I should at a meal, I get really tired afterwards

I am 11 days post op and have no energy at all. I started my Vitamins today so I am hoping that will help. Still struggling with getting the Protein in also.

In addition to all above and especially getting more protien in, I also use a stresstab that sells at Walmart that is very effective! Using these have helped me get back to the gym again. jake

I Still struggling with getting the Protein in also.

I need to drink the Protein Shakes with 30g of protein. That helps keep my protein closer to 80g.

I am two weeks postop and very tired. I'm eating 80 to 90 grams of Protein a day and drinking the Water. I haven't started taking the B12 Vitamins yet though - just the multi and the Calcium.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
