I also have Cigna and they required a second opinion from a doctor other than my surgeon recommending I have the procedure. Once that was sent in I was approved. I'm all set for July 20th. Start my pre-op diet on 7/3. Whew. Started the process in February so it hasn't been too bad. I'm not a patient person so I'm glad I have a date now. I've got my ducks in a row and am ready to move forward with this new chapter in my life.

Yes, he just needs to provide a letter to your surgeon's office and they can submit everything together. I was denied at first because I didn't have the second opinion. Once they submitted that piece I was approved within a week.

3 months of weightlessness as appta with your doc, but you don't have to lose a set amount of weight. I didn't lose any. It actually ended up being 4 appts total.

I have cigna as well and my stuff was suppose to have been submitted on 6/18. I have not heard from cigna yet. I am very nervous. I am worried that she may had not even submitted it bc she has been very forgetful. I have my fingers crossed to get an approval this week.

Thank you everyone! Good luck with your submission. Fingers crossed your approval is quick! I am really trying to gauge my expectations but don't want any delays at the same time.

@megieg: I call Cigna everyday. ;) I apologize to them but remind them that to them, it's just a job, but to me, it's my life. Cigna reps are usually very understanding so maybe you should call. PS: I still don't have an answer so not sure calling helps.

It's nerve wracking, isn't it? My info was supposedly submitted on 6/19 and my surgeon said approval should only take 2-3 days. I haven't heard anything yet and I jump every time the phone rings.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
