Any suggestions?

Recommended Posts

Hey all. I'm kind of at a loss for what to do so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Tonight for dinner, my squad is going to the Buffalo Wing Factory. This is a "last time the squad's together" type of thing so it would be really noticed if I didn't go. None of them know that I'm going to be banded and right now I'm on a liquid only pre-op diet. I checked the website and they do not serve any type of Soup. The point of going here is for the all-you-can-eat wing night.

How do I handle their questions as to why I'm not eating and drinking with the rest of them? I know that if I say that I'm trying to watch what I eat, they'll find something on the menu that is healthy like a salad. Short of ordering chili and drinking only the soup part of it...any suggestions on what to do? I'm not really wanting to tell them that I'm going to be banded....

Thanks

I saw on another posting similar to this, you could say something to the effect of having some sort of stomach issue and the doc is requiring liquids only for the next few days, which should clear things up...other than not going at all, or spreading the news, I really wouldn't know how else to handle it.

There are many medical test that reguire liquid diets. Just say you are having a colonoscopy in the morning and you must be on liquids (Even though it would be very hard for me not to eat)so I just wouldnt go "Call in sick"

Devils advocate here...I'd probably call my surgeon's office and explaine the situation. I know that my surgeon would have let me have a lean Protein and veggie in this case as long as my surgery was still a few days away. It can't hurt to ask...and if he/she says no...use one of the above excuses

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
