Happy that nothing makes me sick and I can eat whatever I want, but on that same note, it makes me sad.... I wish I threw up every potato chip, chocolate, candy....

So far, nothing has really made me sick. Had a hamburger and beer too early, but even that didn't make me hurl. Even increasing Protein and calorie intake per dietician instructions, has not taken away my mental appetite.

I hit a plateau and haven't lost weight in two weeks. I've increased my exercise and now force myself to put in my 10,000 Fitbit steps.

I can drink, almost chug, Water all day, but I stop myself from overdoing everything for fear of experiencing vomiting or injury to my little pouch friend.

I am 6 days PRE surgery but i have talked with BOTH my Therapists (Personal and program) and BOTH told me to anticipate this.

It's about your RELATIONSHIP w/ food. The feeling of Satiety is not just about fullness. Is about FEELING satisfied. That is an emotional feeling, not a physical one.

Think about the first bite of your favorite food, and the warm feeling it gives you. That aint physical. Its' mental and emotional.

So for real success, for many of us. It's about changing your relationship to food. You may not WANT to get that SATISFIED feeling from food anymore because that path leads to where we were when we chose surgery.

It's a mental/emotional battle that CAN be won. find new ways to fill those needs...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
