Well it's surgery day! I've arrived at the surgery center, I'm IV'd, I've talked to my surgeon and anesthesiologist, and now just waiting to go back.

No nerves, really, I just had a restless night so I'm kinda sleepy. My only hope is that he will be able to remove my band and do my sleeve surgery today. He said 85% of the time there are no issues. I'm praying that the odds are in my favor.

Well I'll see you all on the losers bench! ????????

Thanks all! They released me from the hospital around 10:30 last night. I must admit, I had a very very rough night. Lots of nausea and vomiting, I didn't really have much in my stomach so it was a lot of painful dry heaving with blood from the surgery. The meds that my doctor prescribed me for pain (Tylenol with codeine) made me really sick, luckily I had some hydocodone left over from a previous car accident it helped some. Then I begin to experience the horrible pain of acid reflux. It burned like hell. They hadn't prescribed me anything for that, so I suffered all night and this morning from that. I called my doc and he prescribed me

meds, and gave me permission to take a Zantac that I had. After I took the Zantac I was able to relax for about 2 hours at a time. So between the vomiting, heart burn and gas it was the worse. Surprisingly, I haven't had much incisional pain, it does hurt some, but not even as bad as the initial lapband surgery in 2011.

I have been able to get in most of my fluids, but it is hard. I started my Protein this afternoon and I've been able to get in about 6 oz. I'm just really thirsty for Water, but you do have to sip, sip, sip, where as before I gulped, gulped, gulped my Water.

Thanks everyone for your support. Would like to know how my other May 18th buddies are doing.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
