Trying to stay positive

So I'm 5 weeks out and doing really well health and weight lose wise. However, I am struggling with mourning over my old, unhealthy, binge eating habits. I'll be hungry and excited for the food but then bummed out that I only get 2 oz., which makes me depressed and not even want to eat. I want the whole package! I knew my psychological issues would be the toughest and I am so glad I got surgery! Thanks for listening.

I really struggled with that exact same issue in my early months post-op. I had turned to food for comfort for SO long and a big part of that "comfort" came from the feeling of satisfaction I got from eating a lot of food at once. It was frustrating and sad that I couldn't achieve that feeling anymore post-op. Took me a while to get used to it, but I really did eventually. My mind and body caught onto the fact that sensation of "satisfaction" was a thing of the past and I stopped craving it eventually.

Ok, I'm gonna give it to ya straight. You are in the so called "honeymoon stage". That is where you will feel the most benefit of the surgery. Basically.....the most restriction and the least amount of desire to eat. Treasure it. It will not last forever. Adapt to the new eating style "QUICKLY" You will see the most and fastest weight loss during this time. But it will subside eventually and you will be able to eat more and some of those old cravings may return.

You need to have your healthly eating habits and exercises firmly ingrained in a new lifestyle. And the more you lose.....the stronger you will be able to resist any backsliding. When you reach your goal....it will be an accomplishment you never want to give up. You will also then have much more insight into how to control all those past desires and cravings.

So this is time where you need to concentrate on doing the work and taking advantage of the benefits of the sleeve. New is in...... new is now.....old is gone. No mourning necessary. It's done, time to embrace the new you and the effort it will take to maintain it. You can do it. ;)

In my thinking (I haven't had the surgery yet I have a week and a half to go), I would think that not being able to overeat would be a good thing. For me, I have a hard time stopping when I'm satisfied so this tool would be useful because it would make me stop because I feel full.

@"Recycled" thanks for the comment. That was exactly what I needed...a reality check and some tough love.

It is exactly what we need to stop us from overeating. I was a binge eater and I knew that sleeve would prevent be from binging ever again. That doesn't mean I didn't MISS the binging at first! It was still one of my primary ways of dealing with emotions, so it was hard to adapt in those very early months.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
