How to stop losing weight without gaining it back

Recommended Posts

I'm still meal-planning and tracking at all times though. I enjoy the feeling of control I get from doing it that way.

I have come to believe that tracking is the real key to long term success. The people who track are able to spot problems and patterns right away and adjust accordingly. If you don't know what you've been doing, you can't easily correct it. In the past, I would put my head in the sand and just hope for the magic fairies to take care of everything for me. That didn't work so well.

Tracking is a requirement for me. Takes a little time but works well to always know where I stand. Sometimes I'm actually lower in calories during a day which leaves room for a small treat, like an extra Protein bar.

Thank God for this thread! I am 14 weeks out and have dropped the weight very quickly and am close to goal.To be honest..I think I need to reconsider my goal: I was a size 16 when I started this and am now a size 6. I think another 20 lbs. would make me look malnourished- though the charts say I should weigh between 117 and 125! My doc says I should plateau very soon- but I have never stalled and now I'm worried I can't stop losing. Seems like such a silly problem to have! I still can only eat a few bites of food, and I do focus on my Protein first. I've pretty much eliminated carbs, but after reading this thread I know I have to start gradually adding them back in for maintenance. I appreciate you veterans posting this because quite frankly, I was afraid to post my "problem" on any other forum here.

Congratulations on your great results. You're still in an early phase and your weight is not too low for your height, so in your shoes, I'd keep cruising along on the program. Getting too thin is usually a temporary problem that takes care of itself. Most people regain some weight after the initial period of loss. If you don't push all the way to goal, your long term outcome may be compromised.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
