So someone told me yesterday for every 100lb you lose you will have 30lb of extra skin is that true? and how much is a tt in Canada its not cover by health care in the Yukon?

I had a TT a few years ago, after one of my 100 lb weight losses (of course I gained all the weight back again). I live in SK. The surgery was covered, in SK if you've had a major weight loss they will pay for reconstructive surgery (tt, arm lift, breast lift). Check with your provincial health plan to be sure they don't cover the surgery after a major weight loss.

30lbs of skin per 100lbs seems a little high. When I have watched them doing TT on TV for people who have lost massive amounts of weight they seem to take about 10lbs of tissue.

We need to move to SK because they are not covered by OHIP

That's because in Sask. they like thier tummys flat like the terriain. :heh:

I am pretty sure they are covered in AB as well. I make sure to tell my Dr. that my back is killing me everytime I see him.

I am pretty sure I am going to be needing some sort of reconstriction as I carry 90% of my weight in my gut. I look like a Salvado Dali painting with all this hanging skin. My wife even makes fun of me now because I have saggy bum, and my bum was not very big to begin with.

I think you are looking at around $5000.

Susansilver there are instances where a tt is covered by ohip. You will need to start complaining about the skin hanging in front of you pubic area if that is going to happen to you...also start telling your dr. that you feel so uncomforatble having sex with your spouse because of the excess skin. You have bad rashes in that area below the skin hanging above the pubes....are you getting my message here guys...this is affecting you mentally and emotionally. Make sure you tell your gp everytime you see them so that there is a record of your complaints this way you have a good chance of getting approval.

The nurse told me the tt is not cover, but i did get a breast reduction about 10 years ago and it was cover. all i had to do what to tell the doctor my neck hurts and my back. So I'm going to check into the tt but its not going to for a while since my surgery is not until Aug 1.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
