Mine is like 32. What did you guys do for your preop diet! What did you guys do for a pre op diet? Obviously we can't do liquids for 2 weeks we would loose to much! We need to shrink our livers before surgery I know. My Dr said just do liquid and laxative 2 days prior to surgery. I'm scared this isn't enough though???? What did you guys do???

I ate healthy meals--no pre-op diet per sé. My doctor considered my weight from our first appointment and didn't weigh me thereafter. Insurance was no problem. She wasn't worried about a fatty liver with me either, considering my relatively low BMI. I'm sure that's what your surgeon is thinking. You will be fine. Breathe, my fellow low BMI'er. This is the best decision you ever made!:)

I was too low and I knew it but at the end of my rope of solutions to lose weight and keep it off. When I went in for the initial assessment I kind of knew what to expect. Then they told me that the insurance likely would not approve. Then I was on a journey to add a few more pounds on purpose and fuss and fight about my health going downhill because of my weight. After about 7 months I finally got the ok and began the steps as it got closer to pre-op days.

Today I am 5 days post op and am not sorry. I am glad I did the sleeve.

How long was your pre op diet? Was it only a day or 2?

Actually I was quite tickled because I started the liquid diet two weeks pre op and I thought I am never gonna make it ( I like to eat). I went to see the surgeon on April 2 and he looked at my husband after he checked me and told him to take me out to eat. I was like, are you sure? He said because I was not as obese as some others where they have to get the liver to shrink down hence the reason for the two week liquids. It was difficult for the two days prior with Clear Liquids only because I worked up until the day of surgery. Then they called to tell me nothing by mouth after midnight and surgery was at 10:30 the next morning.

When did you have your surgery? or is it up coming soon?

I had to do just like all the other patients 6 days full liquid and final day clear liquid.

No exceptions for me. The doctor told me he had a hard time getting all of the instruments into me. I think due to a smaller rib cage even though I carried most my weight in my stomach.

9 months out and under goal.

Self pay should not be a problem.

Insurance would most likely be another story.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
