Please share your story with me from band to sleeve I'm in my pre op and very anxious

Recommended Posts

Finally getting my band removed on May 11th after a couple of years throwing up every day several times a day. I have to wait till August 3rd for the sleeve and I am very stressed about those 3 months in between. I know I will gain alot and eat alot, but I simply can't go on throwing up and I can't go with nothing because I wouldn't be getting surgical help if I was able to do this without surgery, right?. Anyway I would love to have some pen pals on here to help me through this. I am worried about the gain in between and comorbities coming back. Everything I read on here seems to be pretty positive with the band to sleeve situation. My doctor will not do in one surgery to improve the risk factors. He has a great record and doesn't lose patients so I have to take his advice there.

I'm so excited to move on to the sleeve! Twelve years ago I was banded and have had nothing but problems with it for the last eight years. Since I was banded in Mexico, it was difficult to find a physician who would help me here in my state, because of liability issues. My lapband fills were being done by a midwife. Not too successfully, I might add. She would overfill me and then would be "on vacation" for weeks at a time, so that I couldn't get the full loosened. Nightmare for years, complete with frequent vomiting, severe heartburn and acid reflux episodes every night, even though I slept sitting up. Try that for a couple of years.

The surgeon who was willing to help me is absolutely wonderful. In February 20th he removed my lapband without complications. I am in the third day of my pre-op liquid diet which will go for two week. My sleeve surgery is set for June 3rd and I am so ready. A better, healthier and happier life is waiting for me just around the corner. And it is waiting for you, too. I'm glad my surgeon is conservative and trying to get the best results possible by doing this procedure in two steps and by having a two week pre-op diet. Less chance of problems means a better chance for me!

I can do this! And so can you????. Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
