I hope everyone is doing well!!?? It's been awfully quiet lately.. I know for me, I'm just getting settled into my routines and moving on with my new life. I actually had someone say as a greeting to me today "Hey Skinny " I have to admit I liked that. I still feel like the fat dude, but realizing it's not completely true anymore. I'm getting there I always say.. I don't know about y'all, but I'm about sick of telling my story.. All my clients wanna hear all about it lol I'm grateful anyone wants to hear it in the first place lol. Everyone have a great day...

Hello all

I'm feeling pretty good, getting more Water in now , not 64oz but at least 50oz a day. Working with personal trainer at the gym, down 2 lbs this week. As for food , still a little struggle, not much of an appetite and there are only a few things that don't make me feel sick just thinking about eating it. I mostly eat Soup, chili, cottage cheese, things that go down easy. I did have very small piece lasagna last night and that was good. No regrets, but continues to be a challenge.

@ imjenn... Good for you. I'm hoping there will come a day that I can sip a glass of wine again.

My clothes are baggy and that feels good.

What are some things you all are eating??

Another thing I can't wait to be able to eat is salad. I like salad but I just can't it down yet.

Hi all, I am back just checking in to let you all know how I'm doing I've been doing pretty well the doctor finally put me on a pured diet last Thursday so this Thursday I get to go on regular food again yay. I'll tell you before I was depressed and questioned this whole surgery thing but now going with my gut feeling before that it was the right decision. so far I've lost a total of 70 pounds which I'm surprised cuz when I was in the hospital for ten days they were feeding me intravenously so I thought that would have completely stopped me from losing weight. but I'm getting all my Protein in all my liquids in I still feel weak and tired a lot but my doctor says that's normal because of the procedures I had when I had to go back into the hospital. Which was the computer guided CT scan where they put a 22 inch needle through your rib cage into my chest cavity to drain fluids and they did that 3 times. anyways I just want to say hi and good luck to everybody and hope you're all doing well and I'll be checking in quite regularly more often I just needed a big break to focus on myself.

Chili with beans (beans for the protein) I make homemade 3 bean chili with ground beef.

Hi May Peeps!

Checking in on this 7 weeks post op date. Feels weird to write 7 weeks, in writing I am able to see that its not a very long time, but in my head, my pre surgery existence seems a lifetime ago. Ive still been weighing myself almost daily but I don't chart my weight until Thursdays. Ive been bummed that I'm not losing much and some days not at all, but today it says down 1.8 lbs for the week. I guess I'll take it. ;) We wetraveled to visit my father last weekend, and did a lot of restaurant eating... That was interesting. Choosing a restaurant that had menu items I liked as well as items that I thought that I could eat. I tried to remember all the tricks and info, that I've learned here and from NUT. But eating out with family (that Loves to eat as much as I used to) was definitely tricky. I tried to use my eat slower app, and did pretty well with time between bites. But I def struggled with knowing when to stop. Esp when the rest of the table was still eating. and everything tasted soon good. I did have a few bites of things I shouldn't have... Like cornbread at this amazing soul food restaurant (3bites for sure) and another night a taste of my husband's cake (just 1 bite) And I def noticed that I didn't feel well after those meals. Got a bit nauseous and hot.. thought that I may throw up, but thankfully didn't. I can see that I feel the best after a meal with fish. Still having a Protein shake for Breakfast nearly every day. Have added a Protein Shake back in the evening when I haven't filled my 60 g minimum for the day. Doctor's 6 week checkup was last week and I was down 22 pounds, they said that was great for where I started and that they would be looking for a loss of 30lbs by the 3 month visit. They said I am tracking ahead of that goal, so I guess I'll use their faith in my progress until I can find my own. I've still been walking 4.5 to 5.5 miles most days, and actually just got a Fitbit. Its def gonna help me stay motivated. Well Ive rambled long enough, Its so good to hear of your progresses and even struggles, helps me remember I am not in this alone. <3

Don't think of this as a diet! If you want a bite of cake, you take it!

This awakening for me has been so helpful!

I also weigh everyday! But I do not chart my weight loss in my apps until I actually lose some! :) do whatever works for you and keep up the great work!

Well it sounds like everyone is moving along in their journeys... I'm glad everyone is home from hospital stays and celebrating many scale and NSV's

This is a new way of life and not a diet for me personally, and damn, it's a big a$$ change. I know I've said that before, but it's so true!!

Good luck to us all, and plenty of Light and Love from me to you ❤️????

I'm so happy everyone is doing better! Whoo hoo may peeps! I'm doing better too! Finally busted that stall after 2 and a half weeks! My doc doesn't have Protein requirements which I find odd so I was only getting 20-30grams a day. I tried upping my protein, Water, and calories a day and it worked! Finally! Yes! Lost another 5 pounds in the last 5 days bringing the weight lost since surgery to 18 pounds! Yay!

Hi All, I was May 28th...

Does someone have a light and flaky fish recommendation? I tried cod and tilapia and neither one went over very well. Has anyone tried anything else? Not allowed other meats yet. Thanks!!

Hello. Welcome to the thread.

I eat a lot of fish. Cod , tilapia , flounder are light and flaky fish.

I wonder how you are preparing it?

I usually make fish with some type of sauce so that it is wet and moist.

One recipe I use is :

Sauté onions, red peppers, mushroom in a pan with little olive oil. When this mixture gets soft add a 14oz can of the petite cut tomatoes , a can of the white cannelloni Beans and a handful of baby spinach. Once this cooks for a few minutes lay cod on top and lightly push down into mixture. Cover with lid and simmer on low for about 8 to 10 minutes. Be careful not to over cook fish. Salt and pepper to taste. Can use any white fish. Hope this is helpful.

Also if you check Pinterest or Google , you will find fish Soup recipes that are amazing.

Thanks Nancy New. I think I will try something like that! I had previously tried baking it! The veggies you mentioned sound yummy, though I have yet to try any of them as I starting with very soft ones!

Mani mahi is my favorite fish. Great pan seared in lime juice with some onions and cilantro.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
