What have you noticed?

Recommended Posts

I am 18 weeks post-op and 100g away from obtaining my first real weight loss numbers goal - the elusive 20kg!!!!!! (44lb)

I've been reflecting on my life pre-surgery and what things I have noticed that have changed - the things that I didn't realise were hard to do, until they weren't so hard anymore...

Getting in and out of the car is probably the biggest one, getting up off the ground, getting out of bed, the airplane seat belt!!!!!

All of those things have become so much easier to do...

What have you noticed??

I go to the gym every day, and the first things I noticed was first, how easy it became to put my socks on and tie my shoes, and second, I could wrap a normal size towel around my waist and have it stay there.

There were may other things, but those popped up immediately.

Way to go on your successes and noticing them. Lots to ceebrate!

I have a waist! I like to dress up again -- did not think I had a thing for clothes but I am really enjoying choosing what to wear, putting outfits together, etc. Here is a big one: I like to exercise now! What? Yup, most of the time anyway and the rest of the time I pretend until I do. It works! Oh, and I really like myself, who I am, how I am.

I no longer cut the size tags out of my clothes. I learned that from my mother and have done it all my life.

Oh geez...things that are easier now than before? There's a lot of them. Some have already been mentioned like putting on shoes and tying them. Fitting in restaurant booths and movie theater seats. Getting up off the floor or the ground. Touching my toes. Walking up hills. Exercising and RUNNING! I can RUN now! In fact, I've actually won several medals from running 5K's :-) I hope to run my first half marathon this fall! I literally can't be still anymore just because it's so easy to move! I just love being up and going! I also sleep better. I was never tested for sleep apnea but now that I realize how good sleep can be, I'm convinced that I probably DID have sleep apnea and just didn't know it because I woke up several times a night and never felt rested in the mornings. Hubby says I used to snore a lot too and now I don't snore at all. So even sleeping is easier now!lol

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
