2 Days Post Open Severe Nausea

Recommended Posts

@@ssourgirl - Good for you! I've suspected for a while a change in doctors was due, but to completely ignore the underlying condition and expect her to go about like a routine bariatric patient is unreasonable. Hopefully she can pass this stone soon so she can get on with the business of healing.

I just found this thread and all I can do is emulate the words of everyone else, I'm so very sorry you are both going through this. I hope the stone passes quickly and things begin to resolve. Do you have anyone else helping you so you can have a break. I was the caretaker for my mother for a very extended period of time and neglected taking care of myself. Please allow yourself a break for at least a half a day a couple times/week.

I'm confused was this doctor even part of the bariatric team?

How's she feeling today?

Hi RNYGal, thanks for checking on her. She was able to eat a little bit of mashed potatoes last night, first food in 4.5 weeks. She was in alot of pain throughout the night though. This morning, the nausea is coming back. She just threw up in fact. She hasn't had anything but a few sips of Water today to take a pill. She wasn't able to take her oral pain meds because of the nausea. He stopped the IV pain medication and put her on oral only. She's also low on magnesium so they have her on IV Magnesium.

And I was told by the charge nurse today, they can't remove him as her doctor until tomorrow. I told her that we do not want to see him AT ALL. This to me is unacceptable. And the way they have to do it is for him to call another doctor in the rotation. This gives him ample opportunity to cloud his judgement with his bullshit. I'm sure he'll deny exactly what he said.

I plant to talk to the Bariatric Surgeon about what he said yesterday too.

No @@BLERDgirl, he is just the hospital internist who is on her case along with the Urologist and Bariatric Surgeon. He is not associated at all with the Bariatric Team.

Thanks @ShellMilliner

Unfortunately, we have no other family in the area so it's all up to me. I'm making sure I'm getting sleep, moving around, going home to sleep when I can.

Oh then double screw him! Just an extra hand in the pot.

To repeat what my surgeon told us, the biggest cause of leaks/complications is other doctors. Can you at least reach your bariatric dr by phone?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
