Recommended Posts

All,

I need to have some taken out but am more am more afraid then when I had the fill. Does it hurt to take the Fluid out (like can you feel it?)? Can you eat afterward? Do you feel relief? How do you know if they took too much out?help.gif

It is the same as having a fill. You do not feel anything different. I had to have liquids for a day. But after that everything was normal. That is just my experience though.

Feels the same as a fill. I was allowed to eat the same day. My doctor said that since he was taking saline out, I would be fine to eat. I had gone long enough without nutrition. ~Mandy

thank you all, I am going to call tomorrow and hope they can fit me in. Believe it or not, it is actually hurting my weight loss because all I can eat is soft like ice cream or crunchy like Frito's and I can do yogurts but I get sick of them after a wile. I have thrown up too many times over the past weeks, so it has NOT been good. Was going to go last week and daughter had cut her cornea while at a band competition, so was going to her eye doctor every day, so she didn't lose her sight. Things are calming down now, doesn't have to go back until Thursday so i will go from work (because this week I will be able to get there on time (LOL).

I have only lost 6 lbs since my last fill, and I had been doing much better. But this has left me weaker so I can't exercise either.

You know, at first i was going to leave it, thinking it would subside in like 2 weeks. It has been almost a month and so far today i have eaten 1/2 piece of bacon and 1 piece of cheese. I am going to try a hamburger because it is late so I may be able to handle it. I hope so. nervous.gif

I've had my band unfilled 3 times since getting it almost 2 years ago, and it's always a relief for me -- I can eat immediatelly afterward and funny enough I always think - oh I'm going to eat this and that (yummy things I can't eat with the band filled, like donuts or something bad) but in the end I go for stuff like salads that I have a hard time eating with my band filled -- my choices are usually pretty good, but I do find I can eat a lot more so I have to be very careful.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
