Recommended Posts

Any advise on somethng I can eat that is not sweet in taste. I was banded on the 6 of jun and I would love to taste something else. Black bean Soup would be to die for but I am scared. Even if I made a lquid out of it. I have been on all Protein Shakes for 3 weeks and I just want something that isn't sweet. :help:

Nashua Nutrition - Hot Soups

Check out this website...they have all types of high Protein items but namely the Soups are increased in protein, including chicken bouillon, beef bouillon, tomatoe Soup, beef veggie, cream of broccoli, or mushroom, pea these all have at least 15gr of protein...Hope this helps! I totally feel your pain!! I was sooooo sick of Sweet flavors!

If you were just banded a few days ago, I would avoid anything too thick. I know the clear liquid phase stinks but you're almost done. I would stick with broth, as distasteful as it is, until you can have full liquids (the 13th?). Then you can have all kinds of creamed Soups and such. It's 4 more days, you can do it.

Ok, I know that this is going to sound gross at first, but...

a spoonful of dill pickle juice!

It is a clear liquid. It is salty. It tastes just like a dill pickle.

Oh, an extra added bonus -- it grosses out the kids! :)

Enjoy!

I feel your pain, I am going thru the same thing right now. I am so tired of these shakes and just want something else to eat, but everytime I get on that scale I smile on this liquid diet I am losing about 1 to 2 pounds daily, I'm assuming its just a lot of Water weight but I will accept it any way I can. Let's continue to try to be strong, I have a total of 3 more days left until I can go on mushy so I'm going to try to hang in there, Jenuse you do the same. We can do it

I went straight to my refrigerator and drank some....yummy!!!!!!

Now the problem is, I gotta stop with the pickle juice or I'm going to have some pretty dry pickles!

As soon as I am cleared to, I'm heading down to the nearest Chinese place and getting wonton, eggdrop, and hot and sour Soups. I think the broth from each would be HEAVENLY! The egg drop I figure I should be able to do whole when I get past this initial two weeks, the wonton and the hot and sour I'll strain or perhaps puree.

I also see myself pureeing some French onion without the toast or cheese in it.

I didnt do one single Protein shake in liquids - I liquidised real food - I used either chicken stock or tinned tomatoes to Water down whatever I was eating, so it generally tasted like real food, but I adjusted the consistency to be appropriate with the stage I was at.

I was banded in December 05 and I didnt miss out on Christmas dinner - mine was mushed up and I had only a small amount but I sat at the table, joined in and enjoyed it as much as any other Christmas dinner - more in fact since I was able to keep my jeans buttoned and didnt need a sleep afterwards!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
