Wondering if I'm the only one...

Recommended Posts

So I am almost 6 months out and have endured thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year challenges, but Spring Break got me. It's the first time I've gained 2lbs. I worked out everyday, which I am proud of, but ate too freely. I didn't measure foods and snacked on my weaknesses (chips, crackers and any carb). I'm trying not to be down on myself because I've lost 80 lbs and that's what I'm focusing on. Tomorrow is a new day and I'll jump back in... Has anyone else experienced a small set back!?? One thing I will say, is I'm excited that tomorrow is a new day and I'm looking forward to my routine again.

Two pounds? Was that a typo? You consider two pounds a setback? WOW!!! :P

No seriously. I fluctuate by five pounds every few days. It could be sodium, it could be Water, it could be your menstrual cycle, it could be the time of day. Seriously. Two pounds is nothing.

For real.

:D

Ok ok ok... I think one reason it was so hard to handle was because it put me back over 200. I got to Celebrate ONEderland for a couple days, then BAM!!! I swore I'd never see 200 again, but I guess I set myself up for failure. Thanks for replying tho...:)

TeacherMommy, Yes. I was sleeved on Aug 11. The last couple of months is when the huey hit the fan. I have to stay diligent and work a little harder now. I gained 2lbs recently. I know its not a lot to worry about and can be tackled in a reasonable amount of time. But its scary when you see that scale go up....and you know its because your hand slipped into that bag of chips or the cookie jar a couple times too many. You know you are stepping back instead of forward....it really sucks. I get it, completely. But....tomorrow is Monday. I have set my ninja on the counter and am ready to hit the smoothie in the morning. I took a good look at my cupboards and my refrigerator and decided to line up my Snacks and meals for the week. I got my journal and pen sitting on the desk. Plan is to stay focused and hit Planet Fitness right after work at least 3 days this week...if not more! Focus, focus, focus!

PS. I also informed my son (its just him and me) that there will be no potato chips, peanuts or gummie bears in the house for a while! Cant hurt him to take a step back and regroup either!

Don't worry about two pounds- once you're back on track, you will be right back to losing. I have been one pound from goal for literally almost 3 months. I fluctuate down to 130 and up to 134, when I wake up and I'm in the 134's I pay attention to what I eat that day and I'm back to 132. Then I do nothing and I magically gain a pound or lose 3 or gain 4 and lose 2, ultimately I stay within the 130-134 range and I try not to be seriously irked that I cannot for the life of me hit the 129 number.

Hope you had a nice spring break- mine was WAY to short!

Mine was certainly too short... I'm sure the emotional part of this is knowing I have to work tomorrow. Hahahaha 49 days until summer, but who's counting?! ;)

I'm almost 6 months out and feel like I'm at a standstill! The most frustrating part is that I have NOT had any setbacks with eating! I've never cheated. Not one time and not one bite. I'm so frustrated!!!

I feel you. That's a hard number to see again. Move your ass, lady! You will lose it fast. :D

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
