Does this look normal

Recommended Posts

5 days post op and the bruise is twice as big today as it was yesterday when it appeared. My other 4 incisions look normal. I did have significant blood loss in surgery and had to have to have 2 blood transfusions in the hospital because of the internal bleeding. It does not hurt and I wasn't injured except for surgery. The bruise started 4" away from the first incision it has now reached. post-130737-14266229886969_thumb.jpg

Check with your Dr. to see if all is well. Sorry to hear about having complications. I hope from here on out all will go as planned.

I had a ton of bruises but not near the incision, mine was only from the blood thinner shots. May want to have it checked out.

I didn't have any bruising, but my nurse told me that if I did, they may be huge, and they would follow gravity, kinda "sliding" down your abdomen. If you are unsure, definitely ask about it. Good luck to you!

My whole stomach and abdomen was one large bruise that was the same color as yours. It showed up around 3 days post op and slowly faded to yellow over the next week. I just assumed that the surgeon was in a hurry and rough when completing my surgery.

I have a bruise that is so dark it is eggplant colored. It isn't that large though. I had some really ugly bruising after I had my lapband out that stuck around for weeks, I just assumed they were normal for me.... maybe an effect of the blood thinners.

Mine aren't as dark, but they have been popping up sporadically around the same area. Not directly on the incision, but below and to the left of the largest incision. It's not even on the indent that is below the big incision. But they are cascading down my abdomen - it's been the most uncomfortable part and range from brownish purple, to greenish yellow.

Yes, that looks consistent with surgery where there was large blood loss, but it wouldn't hurt to call your doctor.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
