Still Attend Support Group Meetings as a Vet?

Recommended Posts

Most groups run by surgeons' simply aren't on the wavelength that the online groups are. There are more options you can learn from others, more wide range of experiences that can keep you fresh with new people and up with farther out people. Hands down, once you are past the honeymoon year/year & a half, online is the way to go.

Most of the places don't want you telling newbies about regain, how hard it is after that time frame.

Excellent!

The fact remains that I learn more online from all various surgeries, all various lifestyles, all different choices, thanks to people who don't stay within the confines of what the surgeon's office dictates. There seem to be many choices that work for lots of people. I can see up to a year but after that, we are only there for them to survey and make $$$ off of while they don't have the big ticket surgery to work on. Plus, they are only using us as lab rats for the ASMBS's databases.

Here you answer to no one and people can touch you and you be touched a lot more freely.

I went a few times...once preop and once post. Otherwise all online. I try to pay it forward here!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
