This is very interesting, thanks so much for sharing! How do you feel now (actually full) ? What are your portions like? Are you physically hungry ?

I do get slightly hungry now but easily fixed with a drink. I have three meals and one snack a day but Breakfast is usually a drink/yoghurt meal. I am still on the slightly soft phase, averaging 60/80 grams Protein, 30 fat and 50 max carbs. Today my meals are

Ovaltine light with unflavoured Protein Powder

Small white fish fillet, broccoli, sweet potato and light cheese sauce (portion fits into half a cup)

Homemade pork burger, spinach and cream cheese stuffed mushroom (half a cup)

Two slices deli turkey breast.

Half a cup fills me up but it has to be denser foods, I could definately eat more than half a cup of purée.

Around 700 calls daily

Sorry for all the questions but how does it compare to your expereince with the band?

It's difficult because four weeks out from having my band I was really happy but I can say that the feeling of being able to eat actual chicken/beef/broccoli etc without getting stuck/throwing up/having that weird chest pain/not being able to eat but being hungry etc etc is such a relief. When I am full I feel full just as you do with a normal stomach.

Who is eligible for a MGB? I have not read a lot of info on it.

Had my band seven years ago dropped to 120lbs so 100lb loss, band slipped three years later due to two pregnancies (to be honest pretty much starved that weight off me, couldn't eat any nutrient dense food really due to over restriction) regained 60lbs. I wanted to get the sleeve and refused to go back to my initial surgeon unless he agreed to do it even though he was against it. It was only about four hours prior to surgery that he managed to change my mind. I thought that because a restriction only procedure had worked so well for me before it would again. His points were. 1) if you have a band your stomach will be damaged so they would have to make the pouch slightly larger because of scar tissue therefore you will probably be able to eat more 2) your body is not shocked by just going on a low cal diet again, it's used to it 3) it's reversible 4) they don't bypas as much of the intestines so malabsorption is not as high (this was my main reason I didn't want it) 4) usually a couple of good Multivitamins a day is all the supplements you need, with traditional rny it's more 5) probably won't suffer with as many extreme reactions to sugar/ fat as rny. 6) if you have a bypas then you have no where else to go, no more surgery, if you have a sleeve and it doenst work you will need to revise again anyway (especially relevant if you are self pay like me!)

I am really happy I changed my mind, I haven't had any problems I still have slight reflux which they are hoping will settle in a month or two. That's the main reason I am happy I changed my mind. Reflux is normally worse with the sleeve. I felt fully recovered within a week (would have been earlier but it was the port removal pain that hurt)

However I am sure there are many success stories with any kind of revision.

These are very good points! I may reconsider this...

Dr Christian de bruyne in Belgium did mine. I don't think they did anything special. There's was quite a lot of scarring etc.

@@Band07 how big is a big sleeve? How much can you hold? I also think mine is big, but have been successful (mostly) so I never had it checked. I am 2.5 years post op and I can't get the last 10-20 pounds off. I really wish for a smaller capacity, but I don't think I'd risk another surgery at this point. I might someday, though, if I can't stay where I am. So, I'm interested in your experience.

This isn't something I would typically eat, but have on occasion in the past and it's something most people can relate to in size so for example I can eat a 6" subway sub and a small bag of chips with no pain or discomfort at all. post-177856-14272037530592_thumb.jpg

This is an xray pic of my "sleeve"

Thanks for sharing that. I have never eaten that, but I bet I could. I am just ignoring the fact that I'm pretty sure my sleeve is big because I've been successful enough....but if I let myself think about it too long, I start thinking I want a resleeve, too! My family would kill me. For me, I think of myself as "normal" and that I can eat small portions like a normal person with a whole stomach. It still keeps me from overeating, even if it does allow me to eat more than most sleevers. At this point, it's pretty much all me since I have to eat around 1100 calories to maintain this weight.

I always say I'm "normal" too lol this will be my 3rd surgery ! Thankfully my husband is great and supports whatever I want to do. I'm 40 lbs above my lowest and I'm just afraid I will keep gaining if I don't do something soon.

Hi! I was sleeved in 2012. I never made it to goal, and put on weight thanks to a medication that makes me hungry all day, slows down my metabolism, and messes with my hypothyroidism. I've seen you post on other threads, and was wondering, what doctor did you finally decide to go with Band07? I'm seriously considering going with a revision soon. Any info on specific doctors you found would be great. Thanks!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
