Looking for a March 24 surgery buddy

Recommended Posts

My surgery date is March 24!! HI!

I'm Katie, from PA, 32 years old, married with two-kids 7 and 10, I work full-time and I'm also a student at Career Step. I would LOVE to keep in touch with people who are at the same stage I am! I'm currently on Day 3 of my liquid diet and I have to say this is much harder than I thought it was. I am only allowed Protein shakes, Jello, sugar free pudding, milk, Water, Isopure, and Tomato Soup, popsicles. I didn't anticipate the awful headaches and tiredness!

Hi everyone!!!

Nervous seems to be the general emotion for all of us. With a little excited and terrified thrown in for good measure. Lol

Hi, I am scheduled for surgery on March 31st. I also have blood pressure issues and I have a BMI of 42. My insurance company just changed their policy to require a 6 month waiting period before any bariatric surgery. However, my doctors office has been awesome and got me all my required appointments in a week. I was just approved for surgery (I think I got in under a short grace period). I live in CT and am having surgery at Yale. It is so nice to realize there are other people going thru the same things as me. I am so happy that you finally have your surgery date!!

March 23rd here in Maine. Could have done it earlier but wanted to fit it in between snowmobiling and kayaking. Yes, excited and panicky both. Starting second week of fluids and well, I miss food that you chew. :)

I am 63 mother of three grown and hopefully self sufficient girls. All seem to have good jobs, two are married. Both pretty recently. No grandchildren and not particularly pushing for any. The girls are scattered all around the country NYC, Seattle and Las Vegas. -

I am a professional who moved from a high stress job in Alabama to Maine about 7 years ago (after all the girls moved away) And promptly put on 30 lbs. But in Maine if you put a half hearted effort into it there are lots of outdoor activities. like snowmobiling, hiking and kayaking. Which i Just love being out in the woods either way.

I am lucky in that I got good genes from my mom's side of the family - so I look younger than my 52 year old husband. :):D

But I also got the fat genes too and have struggled all my life with weight - you know the up and down story. I figured this was my last chance to aggressively do something. Especially I want to enjoy my outdoor sports more, get stress off of my knees (I tore ACL last year falling off of the snowmobile) and be able to get in and out of my kayak easier without my husband having to pull me out. I started with my husband, on fitnesspal last June - I went to my first seminar in July and wow here it is already March. I live in the capital which is a fairly small town, but we have a new regional hosptial and everyone says that my doctor is great - I like him. The staff have been very supportive and I've lost 27 lbs ferociously logging into my Fitnesspal. Only my husband knows that I am doing this. I work for the government so plenty of sick leave.

Getting all my drinks and Soups and whey and ordered along with my crocheting as I will be din hospital for two nights. I hope I can get back to my desk job the following week but I may not and that is fine too.

Husband is loving my fruit smoohies - I keep getting frozen fruit (ha, he won't touch the whey Protein powder though)

I would love to know what special things everyone has been doing before they go in to the hospital.

I don't want to be fat anymore.

Mary

I am at 221 with a 36.8 BMI Want to get to 150 and I'd be very fine with that. (wow I have never said that before not even to my hubby)

I'm scheduled for the 26th of March in Georgia. I'm 41 years old with a bmi of 52. I'm on the pre-op diet now. Started 4 days ago and I am so very hungry. I've followed the nutritions/surgeons guideline so far but woke up in the middle of the night with my stomach growling tonight. Anyone else have this issue? Anyone have any suggestions on helping through the next 10 days?

I was having a real hard time! Waking up super hungry and very growly lol

I started saving either part of my yogurt or one of my ensure for right before bed and that really helped!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
