Tummy Tuck Scheduled for May 21

Recommended Posts

I went to see my surgeon for a 3-month follow up of my breast reduction. I thought I was going to tell her that I wanted to delay the Tummy Tuck because I don't want to deal with the recovery or expense. But my mouth opened and "I want the surgery now" came out. I realize that me having another surgery is going to inconvenience my job and affect my husband, but I really want to be comfortable. The giant mound of loose skin on my belly just has to go.

I know y'all can't give me permission, but do you think I jumped the gun? I'm only 10 months out from the VSG. Although I reached my surgeon's goal in December, I have continued to lose a little weight since then and am now below my own fantasy goal. They say your weight should be stable for a while before you have plastic surgery, but I'm impatient because I'm uncomfortable.

I had my first plastics procedure at 11 months out, but I scheduled it at 9 months out. If your current weight is 119 pounds (go you! I cannot for the life of me get under 130) then you are more than ready for plastics. I read a study that showed that people who had plastics after a weight loss surgery were less likely to regain than those who did not. I LOVE my new stomach (and my new boobs, new arms, and new thighs) but my stomach is the thing that consistently amazes me. How can MY stomach be so flat and hard?! I am glad I didn't wait any longer before I had surgery and I hope you find it to be as awesome as I have.

I hope you love your new stomach as much as I love mine!

Thanks for the encouragement. I am trepidatious but also looking forward to taking the next step in my transformation.

I'm planning a road trip over a long weekend in August, will I be healed by then? Will I still be swollen?

I would think you'd be pretty well healed by August, barring any complications.

Good for you! You'll be so glad you did! I went on a long weekend 3-4 hours from home 2 weeks post Tummy Tuck and brachioplasty. I was still feeling pretty rough, but did OK. At 4 weeks, that would have been an easier trip.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
