Starting out at age 45? How common?

Anyone else out there just getting started in their mid 40s? I keep reading most people doing this are younger.

LOL it is very common I had my procedure at 43 and turned 44 , 3 days later I do not regret anything except I wish I had it early. I am loving life again and I am off all my medications this was a life saver and I am feeling beautiful everyday. Good luck on your surgery and congrats for making the choice to be healthy.

There is no best age, just the now age. I was 49 and OMG wished I had done this years sooner! Best decision ever. Good luck on your amazing journey!

@@KS123 Hi I've got a real jump on you. I turned 65 on December 15th and had surgery on January 16th this year. I would have done it much sooner if I'd had insurance that would pay for it. It's up to the individual but I don't see that age is a factor as long as your physician and surgeon agree you're a candidate for surgery. My choice was live a few more years at the rate I was gaining and feeling, or have surgery and perhaps live to be 100 like my Momma. It's a struggle, probably the hardest thing I've ever done but I'd do it again in a heartbeat! I would think you're probably the norm age. Go for it and don't look back just forward at all those years you'll spend in a healthier, more active body! Good luck.

I was 5 months from 51...best thing for me!! I refused to live the rest of my life fat an surviving!

I'm 57 and waiting for my surgery date ~ I never once considered being too old. Never crossed my mind! Could be I've just never been ready until now.

I'm 45 and waiting for my surgery date!

LOL! Had my surgery at 68 (am 69 now). 10 pounds to goal.

Best weight loss program I EVER started.

45 next month- and will be 6 months post GBP :)

I'm 41 and had my surgery two weeks ago.

I'm currently 52 and in the middle of my 3 month supervised weight monitoring. I hope to get my surgery either late May or early June, and my 53rd birthday will be in late May. This will be the best birthday present I've had in a long time!

I was 45 when I had VSG. It is never too late. Wish it could have happened sooner, but we all get to our jumping off point when we are ready.

I had my surgery 3 weeks before my 45 birthday.

I was 45, almost 46.

I was banded Dec, 2011 at age 53. Best Christmas present I could of ever given myself. Being back to a stronger healthier body is priceless !!! My only regret is that I didn't know about a Lapband sooner . I feel freaking fabulous in my 50's !!!! Go for your WLS, you're never too old ! 45 ? You're a baby !!! Go for it !!!
