3 days out - protein?

Recommended Posts

I got sleeved on Wednesday and am on Clear liquids until tomorrow. Yesterday, all I could manage to get down was maybe 32 oz of Water, a few bites of Jello, and one sip of Isopure. I am having an easier time with the water this morning (probably due to the fact that I was finally able to pass a lot of gas) but the thought of drinking more isopure or similar is horrible to me. I know it will be easier when I can have full liquids tomorrow. How important is Protein this early in the game? Do I need to choke down the isopure or can I wait until tomorrow to start pushing the protein when I have more options, like my delicious Premier Protein shakes?

In the hospital, I had some hot tea with beneprotein in it. it was basically meat flavored tea and i don't know how i managed to drink it. the memory of it is making me turn green.

Thoughts?

I don't know the answer to your question, but I just wanted to chime in and say that your tale of meat tea is also making ME turn green!!

I'm looking forward to info on your recovery. I'm getting sleeved in May and nervous...

I could not handle any Protein Shakes at all until about 2 months out they just didn't agree with my pouch. my surgeon told me just to do my best, but not to force it and make myself sick so if I were you yes Protein is important but I would wait it out till you can have full liquids :)

The first couple of days were rough, but I am feeling better today. If I put a little pressure on the big incision, it makes it a lot easier to move around. I was even able to sleep on my stomach some this morning. I wandered around Target for an hour or so yesterday and it was a bit much, but I was able to pass a ton of gas afterwards and I am a lot more comfortable today. I am going to try to get out of the house again today.

You are doing way better than me. I am 1 week out and finally got to 16ozs in one day. No Protein Shakes for me yet.

I just couldn't do the Protein shakes. I spit it all back up and got nauseous. I got some unflavored Protein powder and blended it into about 8 ounces of oj. I was able to drink it over time. I am only 5 days post op and I know juice is a no no, but I felt like I was getting no nutrition and had to find something that worked for me. So I do a scoop of Protein Powder in oj for Breakfast, lunch and dinner are a scoop of Protein powder in V8 juice.< /p>

Pretty sure I got almost no Protein first 3 days while I was on Clear Liquids. I was mostly traveling up until day 4 and Isopure made me gag. I got a bit of Protein from powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken broth and thats it. Started full liquids day 4 and went gang busters on the protein...shakes, milk, Soup with unflavored protein powder added and drinkable yogurt (Siggi and Kefir). I made sure EVERYTHING I drank had protein and didn't waste my tiny space with popsicles, crystal light, etc. After I hit 60g, I would throw in some Decaf herbal tea or Vitamin Water to get my fluids up to 64oz if needed. I've gotten 60+ g protein everyday since day 5. And yes, getting in protein early on is extremely important for healing and preventing hair loss.

I absolutely agree protein is the most important I to am 7 days out and I get my Premier Protein in 2 a day and then I get my Water in! I tolerate it quite well, I know when I feel full but I have tons of energy! I also take a chewable multi vit twice a day!

Have you tried broth and mixing in unflavored Protein powered in with it. I had trouble the first couple of days getting in my Water but that is ha I got in my protein. Also Unjury protein has a flavor called chicken broth that you just mix with warm water that is pretty could and has 20g of protein. Best of luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
