My weight hasn't changed in almost a week. Could I be in a stall already??? :(:(

Me too! Had surgery 2/3. Haven't lost a pound since 2/17. Kind of disappointing, but I gather from reading posts on here that it will eventually pass.I am getting a little tired of it though. Hopefully yours (and mine) will break soon!

@@borg/assimilated

you are both early PO

this could be your first of a "few" stalls

especially if it lasts another few more days

this too shall pass -_-

you know stalls happen to most of us

the time they last will vary from one person to another

"God Grant Me Patience, Just Hurry Up About It ;) "

even though you are presently not losing weight

take your measurements

they could be dropping :)

don't get discouraged (easier said than done)

good luck to both of you newbies :)

Thanks Ms. Kathy! I am going to pay extra close attention to my measurements and how my clothes fit. So far, if I only focus in that, I'm extremely happy! Happy to be wearing baggy jeans out tonight....who would have thought lol!

I stalled pretty quickly too but realized I was losing inches. I'm in another stall now and I'm trying to really get in my liquids and Protein

You are probably are in starvation mode. It sounds more aweful than what it is.

What happens is, the body is seeing that you are not putting enough calories that it is naturally burning during the day. So your body is going like "oh oh, I need to preserve, I don't know when my next meal is coming from". So it stops losing weight in order to conserve.

This is what my surgeon explained when I flipped a lid like you. What he said is, what is most important is to stay hydrated while you are recovering. (This will keep you away from an I.V. at the hospital)

As the days go by and you increase your calories, your body will start waking up and say..."okay, I will be getting food" so it starts burning the fat for energy while you are putting in Protein for muscle. If you don't put in Protein for muscle, your body will disregard the fat and use muscle for energy instead. *You don't want that*.

So just keep on keeping on, and keep drinking your liquids and work on increasing your calories and trying new things every day, eventually the scale will move.

I went through a one week stall during my third week and I was like, HOW IN THE WORLD can I not lose weight if I barely make it to 400 calories a day???!! Well the answer is above, and it worked.

;)

Totally correct! I upped my intake by doing smaller more frequent meals and my stall seems to have broken! I won't speak too soon *knocks on wood* but upping my caloric intake did make a difference.

Same thing happened to me a week after surgery. Then I started losing again, then I hit another week long stall. It's frustrating but the weight will come off.

It's not a stall if you are losing inches. My suggestion is for you to take measurements today, then compare them to next week. You are probably going to find that you are getting smaller even though the scale isn't moving.

I get a lot of comments at work that I'm shrinking even though the scale hasn't changed. My body is definitely changing.

I stalled for 3 weeks early on and thought I was going to lose my mind. People on here tried to be so encouraging and telling me to be patient. I wish I could say that it helped and I became the most patient person ever. I did eventually start losing weight again and the good news it, it didn't stop again. Doesn't mean it won't happen again but having like 4 months of pretty steady weight loss is amazing.

I'm 2 months out and stalled for 2 weeks! It just broke today and boy was I happy! But, during this time I definitely lost inches and that made me feel much better! I started working out this week (30 mins on treadmill) and I think that helped. I also paid closer attention to hydration as I found myself dehydrated early on. Can only eat very little, but I'm doing several small "meals" a day. A meal meaning a few bites at a time.

Good luck and I'm sure it will pass.

Thanks for all the encouragement. Clothes are definitely loose, and I am wearing some pants I've had packed away for a couple years so.......... I am getting smaller! It just doesn't show up on the scale yet.

I'm in my first stall at 13 weeks. I keep bouncing between 214-215lbs. I recently saw my doctor - my fluids, Protein, Vitamin levels, everything came back normal or better than normal!

My doctor said the stall was normal at this stage. Do they resolve on their own ever?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
