How do you feel when you are getting full?

Recommended Posts

I am newly sleeved and I know i'm swollen,etc.. but how do you know when you've had too much or put too much in your pouch either with liquids or when you eat foods? I'm only doing liquids in 2 oz now and a time or too I got a heavy chest feeling so I stopped thinking that may be what I need to pay attention to. I don't want to get sick.... I was so sick with when I had the band that I was miserable! Thanks for any help.

As soon as you get that heavy chest feeling you described, I would stop for a bit

I also had the band and find that the signals are similar to how the band was. I just had my 2 week post-op and told my doc I didn't throw up the first 2 weeks. I'm just following the feelings like I was getting with the band even though there is no band inside me now

It's kinda weird, but my nose will start to run before I get the actual feeling...

I'm almost 6 months post-op now and it's definitely different with solid foods than it was with liquids. I don't really have a "getting full" sensation. I have "not full" and "WAY TOO FULL". Because of that, I have learned to eyeball my food and try to accurately estimate how much I can eat without getting to the WAY TOO FULL feeling. I sometimes still fail at that and regret it. Though I have not thrown up even once post-op, so I guess it could be worse.

I just started on full solid foods and I am the same way! I go from not full to oh no way too full in an instants! It's making me crazy! I'm having a hard time figuring out the right amount.

i am 5 weeks post op and trying to progress to more solid foods. After a couple of tablespoons of food I get a such a horrible feeling of discomfort in my chest and feel like I want to vomit. It is painful as well. As soon as this feeling starts I stop eating. At what point are you able to progress to more solid foods.

@@sweetie716 -- mine does too!! I have noticed that my nose has been runny since my surgery. Hubby was doing the laundry and he said there were a lot more tissues in the wash than usual, lolol.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
