Did your taste buds change?

Recommended Posts

I see on the forums for first time Sleevers how their taste buds changed. What about you all that had revisions? Mine don't seem to have changed

Sweet tooth isn't like it was. I don't crave carbs too much anymore.

My tastes really changed but it was temporary. I went through a phase where eating was work, everything tasted wrong. .kinda metallic. I could not drink plain Water and switched to herbal tea. It was all temporary and I think helped me get over food.< /p>

As of now- 3 weeks post op I can say my taste buds have not changed. Maybe they changed with my band surgery and stayed with me for sleeve surgery. I'm eating everything I did during the soft foods/mushy phase with the band and still like everything so far

I used to drink 2-3 cups of coffee a day. Now, it's all I can do to drink one cup. Kinda ticks me off!!!

My taste buds definitely changed following band surgery. Use a lot less salt. And cannot tolerate anything spicy. Now that I have the sleeve, i am still the same.

I tried something I never had before. food hasn't been too appealing lately. At my work cafeteria yesterday, I took some Tunafish from the salad bar but I'm getting sick of tuna. Someone made a comment that there was bacon on the salad bar- I started thinking about it and the next thing I knew, I was adding the cut up cooked bacon in the cup with my tuna and ate it. It was delicious!! Never had those 2 foods together before

Its confirmed- my tastebuds have not changed!! It must be more common with people that only have the sleeve, not revision

My taste buds have changed and my food desires. I no longer want butter, bread, cake, hot dogs, bacon or sausage. The meats and butter put a slimed fat in the roof of my mouth that's just yucky. The breads and cakes are heavy and not desirable. I still enjoy a small piece of extra dark chocolate from time to time. Pasta is too sticky. Love my roasted veggies and cottage cheese.

I'm four months out and thrilled with lapband to sleeve. I had the band for 7 years and gained weight, diabetes and 2 partial knees during that time. I am now off all meds and no longer have high cholesterol, diabetes, or high blood pressure.

I do not compare my weight loss to others as we are all different. I am thankful for the opportunity to be healthy.

I am down three sizes and can do yoga, go walking and exercise on the wii. I plan on walking trails, canoe day trips and zip lining this summer. Life's good!

I have noticed - a couple of weeks ago I ate something ( not healthy) because I was craving it since my surgery. Once I ate it, I have not craved it since. That happened a couple of times with 2 different foods, ate it and no longer cared for it after. I would be Syked if I never care to eat it again but who knows

I can't tolerate salt. I taste it all the time, even if I don't use it!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
