Hi all, I'm home from the hospital. My surgery went well. No hystorectomy for me today. They did the hydro abalation. And discovered that I have HIGE vericose veins. (golf ball size) I will talk to her in a week at the follow-up. She is going to give me something that will totally shut down my ovaries, and we will talk about another sugery I guess. I am pretty sore and tired but I am home. I'll pop in again tomorrow. ~Mandy

Hi all,

We managed one test today, the other they postponed until in the morning just prior to the procedure. They found that he has seriously diminished heart function, he is only operating at 37% of normal. That was a very upsetting shock. We have to be at the hospital at 6:30 AM. Surgery following the test which begins at 9. I have no signal at the hospital....dammit. So will check in again when we get home.

The ortho said Kinsey has a green fracture of her ankle. But that it should heakl bowell, and quickly. She told me she wanted to come to my house and snuggle in the big couch---I felt so bad not being there!!!

Well I am off to try to get some sleep....will be in touch.

Kat

Good Morning Y'all!

Kat - My prayers are with you! I know this is all so hard to go through.

Mandy - I must have missed you saying you were going to have surgery. I'll keep you in my prayers too!

Sherry - You might want to try to go to the user page and redo your choices and see if that helps any.

Well, time to hit the shower!

Prayers going out:

Kat: Peace and comfort for Rick as he undergo's surgery and that his heart would be completely healed and return to normal function. And for Kat and her band that the acid disappears and that she remain in good health.

Kinsey and her fracture. How do you tie down a moving object. Hugs

Mandy: Rest and healing from your surgery. I want to tell you all about the new submarine voyage at Disneyland.... I went opening day!

As for me.... I just typed up an appeal letter for insurance. They denied my $400 EKG for my surgery. They say I wasn't covered! I really need this to fly thru -- it's causing stress. And then there is work. I spoke with a union rep for my school district and I will be meeting with him thursday to discuss disipline and my unsatisfactory work conditions. They say I did something -- but I didn't. It's all rather ugly.

Me and my band seem to be getting along... tomorrow is 1 month! Yeah!

Hi all, Kat you and Rick are in my prayers I hope all goes well today. Boy you guys have gone through a lot.

Well I'm here in NY actually today I'm in NJ DS's uncle flew in from New Zealand last night so she is spending time with him today.

It has been a whirlwind. Lots of details still getting together. It is so overwhelming at times. Marianne is doing really well. She has feared this all her life. She even guessed how it happened. She is asking for help and support groups. She has gone to her therapist everyday. She really is doing good under the circumstances.

Lynn and I (my other sister)feel sick to our stomachs. We are so proud of her. Lynn had to go to work today and we both felt that MM needed a day with her uncle.

So that is the lasted in this horrible sad situation. Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers.

Mandy, I hope you are feeling better...take care of yourself!

Kat, I am praying for you and Rick, also. Hoping for the best, and you take care of yourself, too!

Patty, good luck with all that's going on with you.

Sorry I haven't checked in...with VBS, we are running around crazy!

Tomorrow is the fun day! Off we go to Disney World! I'll be back on the 24th, but won't be able to check in while I'm gone, so don't waste the flying monkeys (or gorillas!) on me! Find those other girls, though!

Good luck to everyone, and I'll see you when I get back!

Hugs, big ones!

Cindy

Cindy, give the Mouse a hug for me and tell him I'll be there soon. Make sure you guys drink loads of Water and use extra sunscreen. Oh and pack me in your suit case. LOL.

I am feeling a bit better, still sore, but better. I am looking for a doc to do the hysto. The surgeon that I am seeing right now wants to put me into chemical menopause, not surgical....what's the diff? I am sooo tired of hurting all the time. So I am sugeon shopping this week. I will see what I can do. ~Mandy

Cindy-lou Wishing you loads of fun at DisneyWorld.

My twins are out of school now and the little guys still have 5 days. Today is also my 1 month post op and I have lost an additional 2lbs. Nice and slow. I feel well and am ready to do laps around the neighborhood to burn calories. Need to tone a few places.

Hi all, we are home. Ablation went really well. Rick already says he feels much better. His heart rate has dropped by about half! The way he described it was breathing with a quiver, where you feel your heart beating through your breathing, as if you just had a near miss accident or something....and now there is no quiver, and the heart rate is back into the 60's!!! The Dr. seemed really happy with the results. We don't go back for 6 weeks if all goes well. Yeehaw!!!

Kinsey is still refusing to even attempt to put weight on her foot. The ortho will see her again in the morning for another set of Xrays to determine if the fracture is opening any. They said to let her set her own pace, if she can walk, let her---but she won't, she cries, not a pouty cry---a pained cry so no one of course pushes her.

Mandy---if the hysterectomy is what you need, I personally am so glad it was done....life became so much simpler! Keep us posted.

Betty, Chris, Cindy, Patty, Dianne-- thanks so much for the support messages!

All of you have been so supportive, and I do appreciate it!

Well I am off to let others know we survived another round---will check in with you all tomorrow!

Kat

Thanks, all!

Mandy, I say (and I'm not a medical doctor, as you know, just have dealt with the chemical side of this) NO to chemical menopause. I think surgery is more natural than messing around with blood chemistry and hormones. Maybe that's just me, but I'm glad you are looking into someone to do the hysto.

I will say hi to the Mouse, and all his friends, and tell them all some of my good pals will be out to see them very soon!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
