Marchies in June

Recommended Posts

Well yesterday I took the kid to a Chinese Buffet, mostly because I didn't want to cook and she loves crab legs. I thought if I was careful I'd be okay.

I did stay away from the obviously deep fried food, egg rolls etc. I ate sushi and green Beans. My choices were good...but the quantity was the issue. Mind you I ate a third of what I would have done pre band, but oi vey! By the time my mind caught up with my actions I was feeling awful and worried about stretching my pouch.

How long before eating right becomes automatic?

I hope everyone is off to a great start for their June Challenges. Sunday is usually my rest day, but since I didn't exercise yesterday I did my 3 mile walk/jog this morning. Sometimes it's a challenge to get started, but once I put my music on and get going I get this adrenaline rush and it feels so good!!!

Welcome Gina!!! We are band sisters! I was banded on the 15th as well!!!

When does eating right become automatic??? Juli, if and when that ever happens will be a miracle. Good restriction helps with the amount of food we can eat, but eating right will always be a struggle for me. I don't like to cook and I'm a junk food junkie. Right now, I am staying in control and I'm very proud of that. As the weather gets warmer there is not a day that goes by that I don't crave a nice thick strawberry shake. Saying "NO" is definitely not automatic and probably never will be. I applaud you for eating just sushi and green beans! :clap2: You made good choices and that is half the battle. Yeah, you probably ate more than you should have, but once you get a fill and get some restriction that problem will be solved too. For someone with no restriction, I think you're doing GREAT!!!

Hi all,

Sorry I haven't checked in for a while; been busy with a lot of things both life and work-related. I have my second fill appointment coming up tomorrow morning; it probably won't be much if anything at all, since I've been losing quite steadily. I just reached the 70 pound mark (I am a little over being two months post-op, by the way)!

I've also been having some wavering emotions; one time I am ecstatic about this new journey I am on and other times I get anxious about how things will really be once I hit goal weight, if people seem to be reacting differently toward me now--and I am still far from being the size of a supermodel! It just feels weird sometimes...or perhaps I am being irrational.

Yesterday was a blast; I went to the Elizabeth Arden salon inside Macy's to have my hair cut and styled as a nice little treat for myself, then went the arts festival for awhile. Last evening I then hit the hiking trail then relaxed with some friends for a (decaf) coffee klatch for a few hours. I'll probably head back out on the trail again later if it doesn't rain; otherwise, I'll have to do my workout indoors.

And the best part of all...I CAN FIT INTO A SIZE 18!

Everyone is doing SO awesome. I'm amazed and astounded by everyone. Especially those of you who run or jog. My bra size has definitly (and sadly) decreased, but I still can't find a sports bra that would make anything other than a brisk walk OK. I need to look on-line, Walmart's the only thing we have here, and not really the place to buy something like that I guess.

So I'm sure the problem is not unique to me, but I have this total "all or nothing" mindset that definitely hurts my progress, rather than being helpful. It's not new since the surgery, it's always been my problem. But I know I need to fix so many things - I need to eat more healthy, drink more Water, drink less alcohol, work out more, be better about the money I spend, keep my house cleaner, treat my car better, walk my dog more, spend more time with my family, and be more focused at work. So I decide I'll fix it all. I make rules for myself in every aspect, and when I fail at one, I decide it's hopeless and give up on everything. Logically, I realize I should just pick one thing and focus on it, I can fix the rest later, you know?

So, that's my main goal for June. Focus on a few things, and don't beat myself up for the other things I should be better about. Therefore, I've decided to concentrate on the following:

Water CONSUMPTION - there's no way I'm taking in enough water, and I can actually feel that I'm dehydrated way to often. I will drink (and by drink I mean drink and FINISH, not take a few swallows then leave it lying around somewhere) two of my bottles of water - each bottle is 33.8 ounces.

NO FAST food - I don't eat a lot of it, but chicken McNuggets are my answer to a quick meal, and I'm fooling myself that they're OK. Just because they're chicken by name, does not make them healthy. Also, it's like 2000 degrees where I live (forecast for the next two days is 106) and my treat is a Mister Misty Float from Dairy Queen (if you've never had one, it's kind of like a rootbeer float, but it's vanilla ice cream in a slushie). And it's not I like I get the smallest one they have ... though I will say I never finish the ones I buy anymore. But it's sugar and crap I don't need, and a total waste of calories. So, fast food is gone. This I can do.

WORKING OUT - my goals are small and wimpy, but I've been so bad about the workouts I'm starting smaller. First of all, I will walk at least one block a day. This is such a small thing, but I go so many days now without even this amount of exersize. And if for no other reason, it's mean not to take my dog out at least that much (I pretty much walk to the corner and back with him when he needs to go out, which is just not right). And I will go back to the gym. I will. Here I have to succeed.

Thanks for everyone's support. Oh, and that's my other goal - I'll log on here at least 4 times a week - I won't go two days without logging onto this site. It keeps me focused and keeps my goals in mind, and otherwise I can turn a blind eye to my band and my goals and my reasons for being here in the first place. So I'll remember the support I have hear, and use it as one more tool to help me towards my goals.

Hi everyone! Thanks for everyone's postings, I like reading how everyone is doing. I don't feel like I'm losing as fast as some folks, but I also feel good about where I am. I know I'm eating better and even exercising several times per week, so that's great for me.

I started a thread, but thought I'd put this out here too: has anyone heard of this "myalli" fat blocker drug, that will be available over-the-counter in a few weeks? I'm not convinced it would be good for me, since I've already cut calories, but wondering if people had any thoughts. You can check out their website at myalli.com.

Thanks! Marg :myscared:

Hi gang. Happy Monday.

I'm going to jump up and down and scream for a minute. I've lost 60!!!! That's since the first of the year and I'm so thrilled! I'm at minus 37 since banding and that's about 12 pounds a month!

Woo FREAKING Hoo!

Please indulge me as I post my scale goals!

250. Getting below that is next. When I lost big wieght once before that's where I stopped. I've not weighed less than 250 in 12 years or more.

230 will be when I have only have 100 pounds to go.

221.5 will be 50% lost

213 will be 100lbs gone!

199 will be ONEderland!

Excuse my gittyness. It's just that I actually believe I'll see those numbers and that's very new. Sure I've hoped and planned, but I would give up. I feel like I'm just getting started, not about ready to give up, like I would in the past.

Thanks for listening!

Juli

I wear the Enell sports bra - Enell Sports Bra - Welcome

I have very large breasts (although shrinking quickly) and they don't move an inch in this bra. It is the only bra I have ever found that makes working out comfortable.

OH Juli- setting those smaller goals will probably make them easier to obtain than just saying when I get to 199 I'll be in onderland. This way you have lots of celebrations which will keep you going instead of one big one.

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I did. Went camping with family and extended family and really think I did well with eating and all. I stuck with meat, veggies, and fruit. This bunch of people think you have to have fried potatoes of somesort with every meal. I think I ate 2 or 3 french fries and that was it. I know I didn't get enough Protein in although I did take my powder with me. I probably was short 20 to 20 grams per day. It's easy to get the Water in because it's hot and I drag a water bottle where ever I go. I did have some alcohol which I know is empty calories but this was just one weekend. I did PB and slime several times but I think it was eating too fast. I do know raw carrots are definatelly a no no for me. I tried them twice and pb-ed each time. Too bad something healthy does that. One thing, I was excited this morning when my scales showed no gain.

My goals for June are to loose 10lbs, walk everyday, avoid bad food choices, drink, and protein. June 29 starts my long month of traveling beginning with camping another week. I'll need to really work my b*** off this month to get all that done.

I had my appointment today, but didn't get a fill. I didn't need it! I was absolutely shocked by how much I had lost since my last visit (in early May)...17 POUNDS! I am scheduled now to go back in September, but I am to call in the meantime if I don't feel any restriction and/or I am at a standstill as far as weight loss goes for a specific period of time.

I also have to "step up" on the protein; otherwise, they say I am doing great. I guess the next step is to now go shopping for those 18's...LOL!

Sounds like everyone is doing good. Remember we all will have different experiences with this band and that includes the amount of weight we lose and how fast/slow we lose it.

I sometimes get frustrated when the scale doesn't move for a week, but remind myself to keep my eye on the prize and I'll get there.

Had Dr. appt today. Dr. kinda dismissed my shoulder pain, said it was probably gas or I'm using my weights wrong.

I know those are not the reasons for my pain. He told me to see my Primary care physician which I see on Fri.

No fill, don't need one. Lost another 6 lbs since 5/8/07. Scheduled to see him again in 6 wks.

My size 18 shorts and 1x tops are way too big for the summer, went to the local "goodwill" type store and a few garage sales and put together a small wardrobe I can actually fit into a few size large tops!

(I'm not cheap, just thrifty and consider it "recycling"!!)

Everyone have a greet evening!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
