When did you feel "not sick" post op?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on Monday morning. Monday night into Tuesday afternoon I felt great. Tuesday afternoon I was crying from the gas pain. It's now Wednesday and the nausea is insane. I've had lots of dry heaves and even a few vomiting spells. I just feel sick. When does it get better???

I would give it at least a week. Your stomach underwent a major trauma and is not happy with you right now.

Thank you. I keep seeing and hearing all of these stories of people feeling great after just a couple of days. That feels miles away for me.

I have never thrown up. But I was glad to hang out at home for about two weeks post-op. I remember napping a lot.

Don't worry ... you'll return to feeling normal. It may take a few weeks, even a few months. But for now focus on recovering from major surgery.

I had never had surgery before the sleeve and I was nauseous all throughout my hospital stay and then once after discharge. Give it a couple of weeks before you start to feel "normal" again.

It will get better! Hang in there!

This was my very first surgery too. I just don't want to be bedridden. I was hoping to return to school on Monday.

This was my worry too, lol! I had surgery on a Friday and was discharged Sunday, MLK Day was Monday and I was back to school Tuesday.

My mother drove me to and from school and I had to take it slow when walking building to building on campus. I made sure to wear comfy clothes and felt pretty good.

If they give you meds for nausea keep it on you just in case it comes back.

Your story is encouraging. Thanks for sharing. I have a chemistry exam and a lab scheduled for Monday. Part of me considered putting this semester off until summer due to the surgery but I had heard of so many others feeling great right away that I decided it was worth the risk. With the constant dry heaving im almost regretting it.

@@GeminiSleever Recovery time differs on the person. This was my 14th surgery so I Had a good idea what to expect post op. Less anxiety really helps one to feel better quicker. Anywhooo, here are some things I do to help me feel better after surgery:

Sip all the time (dehydration makes everyone feel like crap)

Mix Water with something with electrolytes (g2)

Get out & get fresh air even for a short time & often throughout the day

Walk often in small increments (u feel less like an invalid with every walk)

Spray a peppermint breath spray in ur mouth (natural pick me up)

Take cat naps as often as you feel like... but still get up & get moving

After your 7th day, you should start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I am not going to lie, the hard work begins, which is learning to eat and what.

Use the map my fitness app.

Thanks for the suggestion @pac-woman. Going to download the app right now. I went outside for a few. Couldn't take the smell so I went back in. Tomorrow I might try to take a drive.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
